Comfortable Hotel near Almaty Centre

I stayed 2 nights at the Berkana and was impressed with the hotel. It occupies the first 2 floors of an apartment block, on Aiteke Bi, close to Old Square.
The location is good, walking distance from all the sights in the centre of the city.
Very friendly and helpful english-speaking staff.
The room was a fair size, and the bed very comfortable. There is tv, ac and wi-fi in the room. The room was clean and modern.
Breakfast in the small restaurant was very nice. There is no bar, but there is a good restaurant and bar almost opposite the hotel.
If I ever return to Almaty, I will certainly stay here again. Definitely recommended and great value for money.

Time machine to the USSR

Good location, nice service (also in English). The rooms were clean, spacious and quite basic. The beds were comfortable. There was a minibar in the room. The bathroom was a little smelly but clean. You have to wait about 10-15 minutes for the warm water. Otherwise no problems. Breakfast was good, fried eggs on request.

Excellent value for money in Central Almaty

This is s great place to stay for the asking price in the centre of Almaty. I arranged an airport transfer with them which worked out really well for about €10. Despite arriving after midnight we were given a really warm welcome by Svetlana on reception and a man was on hand to carry our bags up to the first floor.
The door opened onto a small room with a wardrobe and fridge with a mini bar. Off this was a bathroom with a really powerful shower, there were a few toiletries provided. It had a heated dryer and plenty of space to put things. A second door led to the bedroom which was big and basically decorated but had a flat screen TV, paper and pencil and plenty of electrical sockets. There was quite a long balcony which got the morning sun.
Breakfast served downstairs had a small selection to choose from, cereals, porridge, meat, cheese, jam, dried fruit, halva, yoghurt and the like and fresh eggs were cooked to order.
It was lovely to be made welcome by such friendly staff in this little central budget hotel.

middle class hotel with Soviet flair

Reliable airport pickup even in the very morning hours, Hotel room was o.k., reception staff nice and helpful. Average breakfast. We only stayed one night as we continued our journey to Tajikistan the next day.

nice and comfortable hotel for reasonable price

I stayed at Berkana hotel many times during my visits to Almaty. Small, comfortable hotel with clean rooms and good beds, decent breakfast. Location is very convenient. Very friendly and hospitable staff. If you are looking good hotel in Almaty for reasonable price I would highly recommend Berkana.
