We don't recommend living here.

There's nothing left of Golden Palace's words here. It's in some kind of homeless place, all old houses and stalls around. Everything inside is very sad, the room doesn't work drains periodically, the bathtub is muddy and the water won't drain. But the worst part is breakfast. Besides being as mediocre as possible, the food is scarce and not very delicious. Some men come to breakfast with jackets and their dirty hands and sleeves reach into the food you eat later. The woman apparently in charge of the food, not only completely ignored two questions, what's going on, but also complained that we ruined her mood? What does that even mean? The staff disappointed the most.
We don't recommend coming here, because that's the kind of money you get to live in a really decent hotel.

Not clean, breakfast ok

Hotel standard didn’t match from the website pictures. It was a dirty and low quality service. Wanted to charge more from mini bar, which never used the mini bar, but breakfast was fine. Wouldn’t recommend unless you are desperate.

Too bad to be even average

Very bad hotel
When you make reservation for such hotel, you don’t have right to expect Hilton level of service, but you may expect clean room, sheets, running hot water
I was given room which was smells cigarettes, it seems like bed sheets haven’t been change
Towels were disaster
First day i sleep because i was so tired to do anything, next day realize those and when i try to take shower which took me almost 30 minuets due water was either too hot or cold and very law streaming
Long story short i there are many other hotel in this price range and next time i will choose one of other

Solid but nothing more

The palace is a reasonable option for people looking for a cheap stay in Almaty. Almaty is a sprawling city without a real central hub so this is a reasonable location to base yourself. You can comfortably walk to the cable car (about 30 mins) or Panfilov park.
Rooms are basic but clean and wifi worked. Staff were fine and seemed to try to be helpful (although often without success)

Not That Golden

Stayed here for 2 nights while in Almaty. Location of this place is OK with a few restaurants near by. At first glance, this place appears alright. However, it needs many improvements. My room on the 5th floor did not have hot water and barely any water pressure. The AC would not work and the room was 29 C. Luckily the window opened. There is loud construction going on next door to the hotel. The staff were professional but not that friendly. The front desk didn't even have small change so I could pay the mini bar tab. Breakfast was just OK. Overall, I did not sleep well at this hotel. It would by way better if the hotel made a few minor improvements.
