Brilliant location, huge rooms, very clean.

A very centrally located hotel (bus from airport stops other side of the road), absolutely massive rooms and bathroom and spotlessly clean room. The chaise lounge was a nice addition, I thought!
Breakfast was fine, although as always in central asia - the coffee was awful. Please buy a coffee machine! Breakfast is pointless without decent coffee (in my opinion).
The 'Topchan' restaurant (which I believe is part of the hotel) was also superb. Somewhere between a canteen layout and a chaikana. Fantastic, well-priced food here. Staff were great in both hotel and restaurant. Will recommend this to others.
Only negative - Windows need cleaning in the rooms!

Good hotel with suitable price-performance ratio

Newly renovated hotel with pleasantly large rooms and good air conditioning.
Good breakfast with lots of fresh stuff except for the horrible soluble coffee. A fully automatic coffee machine would be a real improvement in quality!

Spacious, quiet and clean at a reasonable price!

Very good rooms -- spacious, quiet, clean -- with good breakfast included in a very reasonable price. Good location with easy access to and from airport (30 minutes). Can also get a very reasonably priced meal right next door at the TopChan restaurant (though much is cooked in the morning and just warmed-up through the day) but would avoid again the Madlen restaurant also next door as much is deep fried and greasy and served in a very noisy atmosphere. Another good pick of restaurants is the Pontos Restaurant about a 10-minute walk away down the Arbat located across the street from the hotel -- excellent meat dishes and service.

Convenient and comfortable

I had a very pleasant stay at the Grand Hotel - spacious and comfortable, it was great for a base for my last day in Kazakhstan. The on-site tourist information desk was helpful and I found that the staff couldn’t do enough to help, including preparing a breakfast box as I was leaving at 3:45am the following day, which was impressive as the kitchen staff usually arrived at 4:00.
The bedroom was quirky with a walk-in balcony that was a real sun trap and the bed was huge.
Despite being a sprawling city, the Grand Hotel was central to several parks, restaurants and shops. No complaints at all.
