Had the place to ourselves!
The staff went above and beyond for our stay. From the housekeeping staff to pool staff and bar staff, they were friendly and professional. We even met the resort owner.

KENYA PARADISE OF NATURE.
IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. COZY, CLEAN, LARGE ROOMS OF THE LODGE. AT NIGHT A YOUNG MASAI GUARDED THE ROOM. BEWARE OF MONKEYS THAT ENTER EASILY AND MOVE NUMEROUS THINGS THE PROPOSED TRIPS. THE SIMPLEST AT THE SECOND BARRIER REEF WITH TWO KENYAN GUYS WHO PREPARED A LOBSTER WITH A ROASTED HEAD. TRIP TO AMBOSELI, SU MASAI MARA (REMEMBER MY AFRICA?) AT LAKE TANA .
WONDERFUL PLANTS THE PINK FLAMINGOS AND BIRDS OF THE BUSHES.
THE INDIAN OCEAN IS BEAUTIFUL.
THERE WERE DAYS IN THE HOTEL, IN THE POOL WITH DIVING SCHOOL. MANY ITALIANS , EASY SOCIALIZATION. IN THE EVENING THERE IS ALSO THE CASINO.
I REMEMBER THE SECOND NIGHT OF ARRIVAL DURING WHICH THEY TAUGHT TO RECOGNIZE SNAKES INCLUDING THE HUNDRED STEPS.
THE VERY POISONOUS GREEN MAMBA SNAKE WENT UP ON MY TENT.
THE CURTAINS ARE VERY CLEAN CAREFULLY DECORATED AND ARE CHECKED BY THE STAFF TO PREVENT SNAKES FROM ENTERING.
YOU MAKE PURCHASES OF VERY CUTE CLOTHING ACCESSORIES, PERFORM HAND AS BELTS, SLIPPERS, FLIP-FLOPS.
THERE ARE SMALL GYMS FOR EXERCISING AND MASSAGES FOR AN HOUR OF RELAXATION AFTER A SWIM.
TO MOVE, BICYCLES, CAMELS, OFF-ROAD.
IF YOU WANT TO GET UP AT 3 AM YOU CAN GO ON A PHOTO SAFARI TO WITNESS THE RETURN TO THE HERD OF LIONSESSES WHO BRING BACK PIECES OF ANIMALS KILLED TO THE LION OF THE HERD.

Artist's Paradise
If you enjoy art then this place is a must. Acres of incredible pieces and paintings. That alone makes up for where the food might be lacking. Service is top-notch, same with the pool and the beach. It would be foolish to visit Malindi without checking this place out.

The Elephant in the Room
The wisdom around these parts is that if an Italian-owned restaurant/hotel is set in a beautiful location but the food is awful that the business is a front for something else i.e. money laundering or some illicit business. After all how can Italians be so poor at managing restaurants?
The White Elephant and Sea Lodge is indeed set in a large lovely lush overgrown property. Hidden within are life-size elephant and giraffe made of metal, creations of its Italian owner. I was invited to stay at the hotel free of charge but it felt grotty and in desperate need of sunshine and a good clean. I got the feeling that few guests ever stay there.
I had met the owner a few times but I didn’t realize his sense of humor was quite so wicked.
It was the end of Ramadhan when I wandered in the restaurant with two acquaintances who happen to be Muslim. The owner came over and introduced himself. He ordered a pizza on our behalf, which he called the Armando special. The pizza, which arrived late, had been slathered with ham, which is forbidden in Islam.
