Great stay in a great location
I had a wonderful experience at Melia Parkside. The rooms are very large and clean. There was plenty of water placed in the room. The breakfast was really good with a nice variety catering to both Western and Eastern tastes. A lovely touch to have sweets for the children.
The location was great for Disney. I took the shuttle to the gate and then it was a leisurely 10 minute walk away.
I felt completely comfortable as a solo traveller here.
A great stay and I would definitely stay again if in Shanghai.

Bad service experience
I booked this hotel via AmexTravel as they are part of their Hotel Collection series. The room is good but they are a lot more expensive than the other hotels that I have stayed at. From going to Shanghai Disneyland, this is very close, after taking a golf cart ride to the entrance, it was about 15-20 minutes walk to the main entrance, another 10 minutes walk to VIP entrance at downtown Disney. The room is clean and it was quiet. The rooms I booked has a yard and I assume all the rooms are having the yard from the brief walk around the property. From one of the drivers that takes us around, it seems that this is one of the few hotels with lots of open spaces near Shanghai Disney, except he mentioned about lots of mosquitos during summer months, which I didn't experience at all. So during my stay, the hotel itself from room itself is pretty good. When it comes to service, I had a really bad experience with the hotel. I noticed that I was charged for full breakfast for everyone in the party while other hotel guests are charged for full price for the first guest and 1/2 price for the 2nd guest. I was told that the reason for it is because I booked it thru amextravel. Yes, AmexTravel did gave me some incentive for booking the hotel, but why would I be discriminated against being an AmexTravel customer?! Being equally a hotel guest, it wasn't written in the sheet that handed to me regarding my booking with AmexTravel that I would be anticipating this. Additionally, the only reason I booked this hotel is because AmexTravel regards this hotel as part of the "exclusive" hotel collection hotel and I didn't anticipate that I would get exclusive treatment as such. I have complained to the breakfast hostess as well as the reception desk during checkout but was told that there's no manager on duty who can help me. Sigh.

Gorgeous room, friendly staff, and a shuttle bus to the park that was always available to leave at the drop of a hat. Wonderful experience for visiting Disney!

10-12 Minute Walk Shanghai Disney But Poorly Mantained
We stayed at this hotel while visiting Shanghai Disneyland. The front gate of the hotel is located approximately a 10-12 minute walk away from the entrance to the Shanghai Disneyland security queue. The hotel offers a golf cart to take you from the hotel to the front gate (A 5-7 minute walk). We were somewhat disappointed in our check-in experience the staff seemed cold and uninterested in helping us. We were assigned a room on the second floor of building 6 (There are several buildings at this hotel which require a quick outside walk). We only saw a few other guests during our stay there. Rooms are enormous with high vaulted ceilings. Despite being a fairly new, the hotel is very poorly maintained. Lots of damage to the walls and furniture. Windows are thin and drafty. While it was fine for our trip - We personally will not be staying here again, we much rather try one of the Disney operated hotels nearby.

Very near to Disneyland
Pros:
-very near to disneyland, Didi cost 25CNY per trip. very convenient
-The only restaurant at lobby, serve good food and good service
-Housekeeping team did a great job
-Comfortable stay , modern decor, ambience at hotel is cosy
Cons:
-Lack of facilities : no pool / no gym though the hotel compound is actually large
-Hotel Wifi does not work : The staff have been very helpful, but nothing they can do to fix the technical issues. 1st night i could not connect to their wifi. Second night onwards, able to connect but unable to use .
If not for the wifi connectivity, I would have rate this as a 5 star stay
