Great Location and Standout Service

Location: Directly above the Wanxiang (MixC) mall, providing easy access to shops and restaurants.
Concierge & Amenities: The concierge team is excellent, properly handling external store deliveries and keeping temperature-sensitive items chilled. The complimentary mini-bar and daily lounge happy hour for all guests are great additions.
Dining: Dinner at Restaurant 101 features great service and high-quality dishes.
Front Desk: The desk can get crowded and feels purely transactional rather than above-and-beyond. When asking about billing during the stay, the staff lacked patience and warmth, falling short of the great service found elsewhere in the hotel.

Great hotel in a great location

We stayed 4 nights in Andaz Xiamen and we loved our stay. Location-wise, it’s right next to a mall. There is a subway station nearby. Airport is not far. Staff were friendly and helpful. Andaz doesn’t have many rooms unlike some other hotels so it doesn’t feel crowded. The room itself was roomy enough and comfortable, although I would recommend spending a little more for better views instead of facing other apartments. Bed was firm and comfortable. Breakfast spread was decent, primarily local specialties but taste throughout was good - this was our daily morning highlight. Hotel guests also are able to enjoy a free flow of tid bits and drinks during tea time and happy hour. We are very happy with Andaz Xiamen.

Great experience in Xiamen Andaz

Very value to money hotel, good location and very helpful staff, room was clean and hotel was well maintained. We left our luggage when check in and the luggage has already loaded to the room at the time we were back.

Staff members are kind, but they're not fluent in English. So the communication was rather difficult. The hotel's location was great.

Great Hotel with Limited English

If I was a native Mandarin speaker I might not have anything negative to say about this hotel. We used a Globalist suite upgrade award many months in advance to guarantee we would be in a suite. It is very hard to find any kind of fault to this suite, it is wonderful. First it is very spacious, it's a corner room therefore windows on two sides of the bedroom, convenient 1.5 bath, and interesting design with a local touch. The only small issue is that phone reception (cellular wifi) was very weak from our room which is compounded by the problem that hotel wifi does not work for many non-Chinese websites which is why using cellular on a phone and then use it as hotspot is kind of a necessity when travelling in China. But if there is poor cellular reception from the room, then it's a problem. Anyway when I went to other areas of the hotel I did not have this issue.
The only other weakness of this hotel is the surprising low level of English proficiency. We have travelled to many parts of the world before, South America, Africa, Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, and even within Asia almost everywhere the hotel staff, particularly at front desk, they can speak English. Not if it's an independent (small) local hotel, but for large international chains such as Hyatt where Andaz belongs, and also for a luxury brand such as Andaz, having staff that speak English is a bare minimum. But not here. As soon as we arrived for check-in front desk staff had to use an app on their phone to translate. Xiamen is somewhat of a tourist city so it's more inexcusable than if we were in a third tier city in China where almost no foreigners travel to. But my point remains that for hotels part of a chain AND luxury brand, they need to have staff which speak English regardless of what country we travel to. I don't think I have ever come across such hotel before in any other country or even in any other international hotel chain where we have been elsewhere in China in the past. The language issue makes it impossible for the hotel to deliver top notch service if they cannot communicate with guests which come from any other country of the world besides China. So while the suite was fantastic, service during our stay could not be.
