A magical place!
Trogon Lodge is magical! It is in the mountains, with a river running through the resort, and the boulders and rushing water were so wonderful. It is so quiet and peaceful. They have a few nice hiking trails and a bird-watching tour to see Quetzels. They have a lovely restaurant that provides all your meals. The staff was very good, especially the new resort manager. The rooms are cozy little cabins perched on the side of the mountain. This was a thoroughly delightful visit.

Lovely tranquil setting
The setting of Trogon Lodge is lovely, the gardens tranquil and the bar and dining room cosy and atmospheric. The log cabin rooms are very homely although they could do with elec sockets near the bed. We loved sitting on our verandah and in the gardens watching hummingbirds at work. The food is good but main courses, except the pizzas, are too small. The Soda just down the road is worth a visit for good value food. The Quetzal quest was not good value for money. It felt like the guide simply wanted to get a sighting for us but didn’t interact with us or tell us about the birds. Expect to see a LOT of people trying to see these elusive beauties.

Quiet, clean, and abounding with lovely rustic charm. A terrific place to unplug and get back to nature. Staff is kind, grounds are just beautiful with lots of places to tuck oneself in with a book or to just daydream. Breakfast was perfect. My husband recommends their pancakes:)

Beautiful gardens but no hummingbird feeders and variety of birds in April was limited. Obviously the hotel had tried to be more than it was with abandoned ziplines etc. I got the impression management was catering to one night stays for industrial sized groups to see quetzals. True, they succeed in that. Meanwhile other hotel birding trips were industrial too. Far better to get a ride to neighboring Batsu Gardens than use hotel birding tour.
