Your home away from home. La junta
My second stay(2 months) at La junta was great. January and February. Chris and Stephanie are wonderful hosts that treat you like family. The La junta property is beautiful with so many wild animals like iguana and sloth and such a variety of birds. Walk out the back gate to the Rio Baru river. I spent so many hours there. The Restruant and bar are super fun vibe with the best foods in dominical. Open mic every Monday was always a blast. I love the staff here they are the best. Room 1 Pura Vida, that’s me. So comfortable and clean. I’m already planning my next stay. Love it,

Fresh and Fun!
Great place to stay! Rooms are clean and bright, true tropical vibes! The restaurant is awesome! Delicious food and drinks. This is a great place to rest, relax, and take it easy. I love the proximity to the beach and town. Couldn't ask for better hosts!

Best place to stay and eat in Dominical!
I love La Junta! It’s the only place I’ll stay in Dominical now. I live in California but travel to Costa Rica a lot for work and I go to Dominical a few times a year. I discovered La Junta last year, a few months after they opened. I was staying with a buddy at another place in town, when we happened to notice the colorful La Junta sign and decided to stop in for some lunch. We were served by Chris, the owner, and we immediately fell in love with the place. We were blown away by the quality of the food and the cool decor, and we really liked Chris and his wife Stephanie.
When my buddy and I realized that they also had some nice little bungalows, we decided to try a couple out for the night. So glad we did! The rooms are very comfortable, very clean, and nicely decorated with cute yet tasteful little details. There are hammocks hanging outside each room and a cool little shared kitchen for guests to use. Each room has a fridge and a coffee maker with some of the best coffee you’ve ever had.
The location is also great. They are right next to the best shops and markets in town and only a few minute walk to the beach.
I’ve been back several times since then and plan to go back many more. For spring break, I brought my wife and kids and their friends down to Costa Rica and we booked all the bungalows at La Junta for a few days. Everyone loved it, it was definitely a highlight of our trip.
Long story short, the rooms are great, the food is great, and the location is great. The true stars of the show are Chris and Stephanie, though. They are a young, adventurous couple from North Carolina making magic happen in Dominical. Chris is a classically trained fine-dining chef who brings incredible talent, skill and creativity to his menu at La Junta. He and Stephanie (and their young son) have truly created something special. I highly recommend staying there on your next trip to Dominical. Even if, for some reason, you don’t stay in La junta while in Dominical, do yourself a favor and go eat there. You’ll thank me later :)

Tropical Boutique Room at La Junta
I spent 4 night at La Junta in July 2022 and loved my stay. The rooms was clean and was exactly as shown in the pictures. Stephanie and Chris are great hosts, answering questions quickly and checking in regularly to make sure I had everything I needed. I also loved the community kitchen which was well stocked. When I wasn’t in the mood to cook I ate at their restaurant which really has the best sandwiches, fries and salads in town!!! This place is a gem! I highly recommend staying here!

Our favorite place in Domincal
My girlfriend and I stayed in Domincal for a month, we jumped around a few different hotels in the area to see which one we liked the best, and La Junta was hands down our favorite! We ended staying there twice on our trip. The location is perfect, shops and restaurants are only a stones throw away and the beach is just a pleasant stroll down the street. If you don’t want to walk anywhere you can eat at the restaurant on property where you’ll find the best food in Domincal. The community kitchen they have there is well stocked with everything you need to make a delicious meal on your own, we loved making coffee and smoothies in the morning. Every room has its own hammock for quite chill evenings and it felt safe and secure hanging around the property. We even saw toucans and monkeys from our room. Stephanie and Chris are amazing hosts and went out of their way to make sure our stay was wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable with hot water and cold A/C. I can’t say enough good things about this place! We love it and can’t wait to come back again.
