Amazing stay
We had a fantastic stay. We were three families totaling 14 people. We rented all four apartments. Chris is an excellent communicator and very prompt. The pool and hang out space are wonderful. There is even a small work out area that our teenagers loved. The views of the ocean are beautiful. The apartments are very functional and suited us well. Chris and his family are excellent hosts - they stock the apartments well and are very responsive and detail oriented. There was a lightbulb out in the group eating area the first night we got there and the next morning it was fixed. We also did scuba lessons and dive trips with Chris. The combo lodge and scuba was a phenomenal combination and I would highly recommend it. Thanks Chris and family for an amazing stay!

Horrible experience
We stayed at this property in Playa Potrero and had a deeply disappointing and distressing experience with the host, Chris. While the accommodation was clean, it was dated and far from comfortable — but the real issue was the host’s outrageously unprofessional and unacceptable behavior.
We booked through Booking.com and, as experienced travelers, confirmed all details before arrival. At no point — before, during, or at checkout — did Chris disclose that payment had not been processed. Just hours after we checked out, he sent a series of highly aggressive and accusatory messages demanding immediate payment, followed quickly by a threat to call the Costa Rican police. It was shocking, unnecessary, and completely inappropriate.
The way he treated my wife was absolutely unacceptable in any country. His tone was hostile, dismissive, and intimidating — behavior that ruined what should have been a relaxing part of our trip and left a lasting negative impression.
For clarity, we have full documentation, including receipts and messages, proving we acted in good faith and that this situation arose solely from his failure to disclose the payment issue. We have filed formal complaints with Booking.com and all other platforms where this property is listed.
It also became clear that Chris cannot tolerate criticism — either online or in person — which is evident in how he speaks to his wife, son, and staff. His treatment of others was truly appalling and made for an uncomfortable environment. It’s deeply disappointing behavior from someone representing himself as a host and especially surprising from a Swiss national operating in Costa Rica.
Having traveled to Costa Rica since 1992, I can say with confidence that this is not typical Costa Rican hospitality. I’m sharing this experience to warn other travelers — beware. I have no doubt Chris will post his own version of events, but the facts speak for themselves. Proceed with extreme caution

Magnificent view of the bay, incredible sunset and unmissable! The welcome was very warm from Chris, Nadia and their children and as the diving club is on site, I took the opportunity to do magnificent dives on Catalina,

Excellent option in Playa Potrero
The facilities are in excellent condition, very well equipped, full air conditioning. Excellent view and security. The owners are approachable and friendly people.
