Amazing property, well thought out comfy beds with fans / power / lights for each….. two different density pillows!
There is a nice path to the river and comfy chairs to lounge in.
Owners are super friendly and communication was easy.
Parking lot is on the left side of the road about 100 feet before you reach the property on the right side of the road.

Friendly host who played nice music ind the reception. Cool paintings at the walls, free coffee, cool sticker collection
Lacking cleaning in and out, badly or not working hot shower, no possibility to close for insects at night/no mosquitonet, no maintenance of building and interior

Fantasic host!

Stayed two nights at this hostel, and Jose made us feel at home! He was helpful and welcoming. The room was clean, the hostel cosy and comfortable, with awesome artwork, super location near the river. Jose even helped us find a ride to San Jose when we left, super appreciated.

Best around Chirripo foothills

Jose the owner is super helpful and friendly!! The place a truly paradise, if you are looking for Chirripo national park this is your option! It's a small hostel but not as crowd as the the typical ones cuz not many people can visit chirripo at the same time. Before starting the hike up to the peak there are couple of supermarkets and a little soda ! Really good meals
Otherwise you can cook at Casa Chirripo! The price for a private room was ok ! The place you need to spend the night before the challenge

Great place!

This lovely hostel is located on the main road in San Gerardo. If you plan to hike Cerro Chirripo, this might be a good place for you. The SINAC ranger station (where you have to check in to climb the mountain) is across from the hostel. This hostel is about one mile away from the actual start of the hike.
Hosel Casa Chirripo features a terrace, views of the mountains and the river. They offer free coffee but do not offer a breakfast option. The kitchen is open 7am-7pm and is fully stocked with cookware.
We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was simple but comfortable. There is no A/C and was not needed as the temperature drops slightly at night. The shared bathroom had hot water.1
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others. It may not be the best place to stay for hiking Chirripo, but it certainly met our needs.
