Beautiful location beside Tenorio National Park with private swimming in Rio Celeste

Cabinas Piuri offers a great combination of lush rainforest location in the Tenorio foothills, access to hiking, swimming, and eco-tours, and warm hospitality from host Alexander and his family. It also provides excellent value with reasonable cabin rates that include very hearty breakfasts and plenty of fresh coffee every morning. The rooms are kept very clean and well-equipped (mini-fridge, fan, etc.). A very nice place to spend some time savouring the abundant nature in this part of Costa Rica.

Awesome Location, Service, Breakfast and Cabins

Alexander and Staff were awesome. Super Private. Right on top of Rio Celeste, Sound of the Raging River right outside of the windows, amazing sleep and great recommendations on things to do and places to go.
Will definitely be staying again when we come back through.

Horrible level, photos are lying

Horrible place. Price much much too high for value. Floor cracked and bugs (snakes?) can enter the room, everything is old, beds very uncomfortable , shower terrible, i preferred not to shower. Junk yard around. Old, decrepit place. Not maintained at all, not taken care of. Owner nice helped us before, that was the only nice thing about it. I really advice nobody to stay there.

Pros and Cons

We really enjoyed our stay here, although there are quite a few ups and downs, its up to you to see what ypur priorities are. Starting with the negative points, to get them out of the way: the junctions in our room (meaning the intersection of the wall and the floor/ceiling, around the doors/windows, etc.) are not sealed and actually have very big gaps, so there were definitely some bugs in our room. Nothing quite like an infestation, and we didn’t mind it too much, but some people might. Also, it gets very pitch black at night (around 5:30pm) so if you plan on leaving your room, make sure you have a flashlight. There are also very food options in the area, so make sure you plan ahead (bring groceries or be prepared to travel a long while for food). Our gps also couldn’t find the place, so we first followed directions to the Volcan Tenorio, then as we got closer, we followed the signs to the Rio Celeste Hideaway (another hotel just down the street from this one), and even closer, there are signs to Cabinas Piuri, although they are small and can be easilymissed, so keep your eyes open. On a positive note: the rooms were kept very very clean, the hosts were amazingly welcoming and helped answer all our questions, and the private access down to the Rio Celeste is absolutely gorgeous. All in all, we had a great stay here and have no complaints about anything!

Highly recommend the egg!

Absolutely loved our stay here! We were lucky enough to book the egg cabin which was fairytale-good; and our host, Alexander, was just lovely. The food served (breakfast included, evening meal additional) was delicious. Being able to walk down to the river for a swim was a real treat, and generally the grounds were great for exploring and spotting birds and wildlife. I thought this accommodation was really exceptional value for money. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
