Idyllic watermill
Kucuru dzirnavas is a lovingly built and managed nest of hospitality in the middle of Latvia. It has a small guest house and several separate cabins. Guests can swim in a clear pond and relax in green grass under shady trees. Plenty of wildlife right over the doorstep. The town Madona is a 20 min drive.

Friendly place in the middle of nowehere
It is literally in the middle of nowhere but the place itself is really fantastic and the landlady is very friendly person. We did not speak German, she did not speak English but she spoke Russian and we understood this language and could speak a bit.
She showed us the place, told its amazing history and presented the enormous collection of old things: irons, ploughs, lamps, clocks and even an old Moskvitch!
Room was clean and nice, with huge bed. There was a bathroom adjoining the room for our priavte use. There is a fully equiped kitchen and dinning room guest can use.
There is a cat in the garden and a nest of storks.
There is a pond and a boat and pedalo guest can use.
It is peaceful and quite over there.
There is no internet in the house, but who cares with such a great outdoors?

Best place in Latvia!!
My son, his wife and I have been here to visit on several occasions and it is as good as it gets! Not only is it a beautiful place but just as important is the people who run it are the most hospitable people you would ever want to meet. The rooms are so cozy and fun to stay in. They are comfortable with each one having it's individual bathroom. It's quiet for sleeping, the grounds are beautifully kept up and it's so friendly. I love going here and it's a must each time we go to Latvia.
This is an experience you won't want to miss. You'll fall in love with them.

12/08/2012 In the heart of Central Vidzeme
Kucuru Dzirnavas (Kuchuru Water-Mill, built in 1875, GPS: 56.9244, 26.0161) is situated in very beautiful place among wild forests and hills of Central Vidzeme. Hotelkeepers - a family couple - are very friendly and benevolents. Rooms are clean and very cosy (see attached photos).
The territory of the guesthouse includes picturesque mill pond and small river. Boats rent and fishing are included in the price of your stay. You can relax in sauna or have very exciting experience trying authentic latvian wet bath with birchen and oaken brooms.
You may order breakfast, dinner or supper separately (the prices are:
breakfast - 2,5 Ls or 3,5 Euro per person,
dinner/supper - 3 Ls or 4 Euro per person).
All meals are in latvian countryside style and are highly ecological and very delicious.
This place is also very good for holding banquets, family celebrations and friendly parties up to 90 persons. Also there is home museum with a lot of interesting historical artifacts from XIX century till the end of the Soviet authoritarian regime - antique irons, gas lamps, radios, photo cameras, badges, agricultural machinery, ammo of The World War II and so on and so on. An attendance of the museum is free.

- Vecpiebalga waterlilly pond. It's a beautiful pond fullfilled with waterlillies and flowers of lotus. Also you can feed "tame" fishes - they take bread crumbles just from your hands!
- "Sveki" rabbit farm with lot of kinds of unusual poultry (GPS: 56.8072, 26.0414) - excursions, foodstuffs tasting.
- "Livi"goat farm and cheese dairy (GPS: 56.8244, 25.9947). Excursions, cheese tasting with possibility to buy.
- Teicu & Krustkalnu natural reserves. Reserves are special strictly protected natural zones, that's why you can visit them only with the guide presence. So you have to arrange about guide help 1-3 days before your planned visit (for example, calling +371 64860573 or +371 26473408). Without ranger's help and arrangement you can go to 26-meters high Survey tower Krustkalni (GPS: 56.7333, 26.1359).

Прекрасные гостеприимные хозяева
Сам гостевой дом находится в отдалении, но при наличии машины это не является проблемой. На крыше одного из домов живет аист. Отдельно стоит упомянуть о прекрасном музее хозяина - можно порекомендовать всем, кто желает ознакомиться с деталями латвийского быта.
