Beautiful experience in a beautifully restored ancient apoartment house
The Almalomb appartments stand in close vicinity of a beautifully renovated ancient mill, the appartments too, have been lovingly restored and again appear in their ancient beauty, but still reflect the way of living and housing in ancient Hungary.
We were cordially welcomed receiving at the same time a typical rich and very tasty Hungarian breakfast served by a very friendly and helpful service team! It’s only a 15 minutes drive to the historic city of Pécs, a city which holds the possibility of many cultural activities like concerts at the beautiful Kodály centre and historical sightseeing spots reflecting the rich cultural and historical heritage of this region. People who prefer to relax will find the spa of Sikondafürdö as a wonderful means to recover and to rest.
So if you like to they in a beautifully restored ancient place in southwestern Hungary do not hesitate to try Almalomb apartments!

High-class simplicity
We stayed four nights in Almalomb, in a very simply furnished and decorated yet very comfortable apartment. We were warmly greeted by Nikolett, the charming and polite, highly professional host of the apartment house. We stayed in apartment #1, the largest and brightest of the six. When you enter, it is strikingly simple, but ample with a queen size, very comfortable bed, two armchairs (which turned out to be not so comfortable), a tiny table and a desk, which surprisingly hosts a small wash basin. The desk is large enough to put your things on (and on the shelf underneath), but there is no possibility to sit down to it with your laptop, you must really use it in your lap.
Two of the windows open on the street, which is generally quiet, but in the early morning hours there may be some noise coming in. The separate shower is good, but there was no mat to step out to, no hanger from which you could reach the towels, and most important: no rail or a stool to help you wash your feet. In the WC there is a tiny wash basin but, again, no hanger for the towel. Everything is of the highest quality, but the interior decorator was apparently very inexperienced in how to furnish a hotel room.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the other side of the street. The garden is huge and immaculately kept, it can be seen that the proprietors spare no expense and trouble in making and keeping Almalomb extremely clean and tidy. The breakfast was very good, served by polite waiters, on the two mornings when Nikolett prepared and served it, it was outstanding with a variety of cold cuts, cheese, cereals and – on our special request – low carb bread, everything home-made and of the highest quality. We could not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner, but apparently it is also at the same very high level.
Situated about 20 minutes’ drive from downtown Pécs, Almalomb is an excellent retreat if you want to stay in a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Our apartment (#1, the ‘honeymoon suite’) was superb, the others are smaller and somewhat darker with small windows opening on the garden/parking lot. There are even two chargers for electric cars. The price is as high as would be expected for such high-class lodging. The next time we’ll visit Pécs we’ll probably stay here again.
