What a peacefull place!
Just great, what a nice and peacefull place! We enjoyed it very much, it was so hard to leave already the very next day! The lady welcomed us friendly, the rooms were very clean - the whole house is extremely pretty furnished!
Last but not least, even the breakfast was great!
What a large, beautyfull garden! Big living room and bedrooms, dining room and kitchen, lovely bath rooms -

Remote & batty
Almost a 5 except for the service so let's start there!
Service: we turned up around 3pm to find no one was around & everything was locked up. Luckily, the gardener turned up 15 minutes later on his lawn mower. Didn't speak any English but eventually figured out who we were & let us in!
Using sign language we indicated that we wanted breakfast at 9am. We were then left to our own devices. There is a piece of paper with a little advice but it could be more comprehensive as it's quite daunting being in the middle of no where with no idea of what is around!
Getting there: You need to hire a car. It's at least a two hour drive from Budapest (luckily roads are good & you can drive fast). It would be quicker to fly to FlyBalaton by Lake Balaton & drive from there (45 minutes at a guess). There is a wooden hand-painted sign at the last minute, SAT NAV is essential!
The remoteness is fantastic for peace & quiet except you can hear shooting in the night where people are hunting deer (which made me feel a little uneasy). There are no restaurants nearby & local shops are limited-drive about 10 mins to find a Spa or 20 km for a decent restaurant.
Accommodation: faultless. Very stylish mix of old & new. We had the whole house to ourselves including comfy lounge to relax in with a bottle of Hunyardy wine, kitchen & dining area. The grounds are beautiful. Room number 1 is gorgeous & huge. The decor is humorous!
Food: breakfast was fine. Tea, coffee, bread, cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumber, jam, honey & yoghurt. Could be better. There are no other meals provided, it is self-catering.
Things to do: with a car, I would recommend Kis-Balaton & Heviz Thermal lake. Otherwise, walk & relax! Heviz has beautiful restaurants on a hill surrounded by vineyards.

A natural place to enjoy :)
Very close to the Southern bank of Lake Balaton (20 kms) and to some interesting cities in this South-West area of Hungary (Kaposvár, Pécs), The Bat Barn is definitely a place to visit and spend some time there. Perfect, if you plan to recreate in an untouched natural environment, with a lot of greens, animals, country silence, a really dark sky with tons of stars around you. Rooms are stylish, the persons who own the place are kind and friendly, We enjoyed staying there (and will return). The athmosphere reminded us to some of our beloved Tuscan village manor house experiences.
Perfect place for hunters, horse riders and motorcycle adventure tourers (like we) who are sick from overcrowded tourist places. If you arrive, ask for the owner's perfectly cooled Tramini and tasty Pinot Noir wine selection :)

Friendly stay in a countryside manor
Some distance South of Lake Balaton, it is worth going down there. The region of the Green Corridor has a beautiful nature. Smaller villages have preserved their rural life and you can discover the Hungary of old times. The Lehner Major B&B is a real surprise. The owners are Hungarian aristocrats. The big house offers all modern comfort with a lot of style. They have decorated it with antics and family souvenirs. It is like a small castle or a hunting house. We stayed in 2 of the 4 guest rooms at the first floor. We were told the barn will be transformed in further guest rooms. We are not horse riders, neither hunters, but we had enough activities recommended by the owners to enjoy the whole stay. It was hot as it was August; it is a pity there is no swimming pool!

Certainly our best horseriding tour so far. Great hospitality in Lehner Major!
A very remote area with stonning natural beauty. We had good horses and all the people involved took graet care of us. A stay we will remember for a long, long time. Probably we will come back.
