We booked our room August/2025 for a 2 week stay in February 2026. We booked with Akmal who was warm, friendly, responsive, patiently answered all of our questions, booked our room and transfers. When we arrived he met us promptly and checked us into our beachfront room (there are only 2 in the property). He introduced us to 'Ahmed' (Eemaz) who was the on-site contact/manager and provided us with a welcome drink. We unpacked and found that there was no hair dryer, no beach towels, and no waste basket in the bathroom (necessary as toilet tissue is not to be thrown into the toilets). We texted Ahmed to have these provided.
In the restaurant there were three things on the menu: chicken dinner, tuna steak or fish fillet. We ordered, drinks came 20 min later, dinner 45 min after ordering. The fish fillet I had ordered turned out to be tuna fillet. So there were only 2 items on the menu; chicken and tuna. The chicken was dry and didn't come with the sides listed on the menu, and the tuna was also dry. We did not eat lunch or dinner there again.
After enjoying our first week, Akmal texted us to advise that we had to vacate our room the next day as we were being moved to another hotel for the the second week of our stay, with no explanation. Shocked and confused, we refused, and sought out Ahmed. He belligerently advised us that he had now 'booked the entire hotel' for one group 'at a higher price' than we had paid for our room, and was moving us. He advised that 'he did not care about our contract' and refused our suggestion to put the new people into the other hotel until our stay was complete. When we said we were not moving and that the situation was unacceptable and very unprofessional business, he informed us that 'he didn't care (about us), that he had plenty of friends to rent the hotel whenever he wanted', and that we 'were a problem since we got there' (because we asked for the things in the room that were advertised as being there). We repeated in disbelief that it was unacceptable and unprofessional, and he demanded angrily and superiorly that we 'don't speak to him that way' and that he would 'call the police'. He swore at us, told my husband he 'couldn't leave the property' (when he walked away from the conversation) and told me to 'sit down!' as he waited for Akmal to arrive to show us the other hotel. We were shocked and felt powerless to refuse to leave our room (given the police threat in a foreign country). The property is the only beachfront property on the island, and there was only one other hotel that had vacancy for us (which was not beachfront or with balcony or outdoor space). We didn't know if we would accept the other hotel or if we would have to leave the island entirely, go back to Male and try to find other last minute accommodations for our second week of vacation. It was wholly unacceptable, unprofessional and highly stressful. Akmal refunded our payment for the 2nd week and we left the hotel. It was an unspeakably horrible experience, and we don't recommend the hotel for this reason. You might get 'booted out' if Ahmed can rent your room at a higher price or to a group that takes all the rooms instead of just yours.
Pros:
Great location, gorgeous view and amazing snorkeling off the beach, quiet property.
Cons:
Rude, unaccommodating and unprofessional management, the bed sagged in the middle, the pillows were unusable hard bricks, the patio doors were corroded so terribly that they were almost impossible to open and close, no hot water for the whole stay, weak wifi in the room (and kept disconnecting), or on the deck or beach, terrible restaurant service, selection and food quality (except breakfast was ok), beach was not 'bikini beach' (5 min away), there is a public road between the room/deck and beach, and if you're a light sleeper be aware the mosque is next door so there is a loudspeaker call to prayer at 4:45am every morning (and throughout the day).
