Stategic location but can be better

Booked two nights for two twin sharing rooms. Overall I was satisfied with staying in this hotel. Location is superb with 8 minutes walking to Gurney Plaza. There’s a hotel restaurant and I enjoyed the food there. Water supply is provided outside of the room where you could get hot water.
Downside is there’s no kettle provided in the room. Room clean in is only done every two days. Hence there’s no replenish for coffee sachet and new towel .

I am someone who never writes bad reviews; even if I feel uncomfortable, I usually just let it go. However, this time the experience was absolutely terrible. The hotel's cleanliness was appalling—the toilet was filthy, and the room door wouldn't even lock! The staff were incredibly rude and treated us like thieves! For anyone planning to stay in Penang, I strongly advise against staying at this wretched place!

I chose this hotel for its proximity to Penang Adventist Hospital (5 minutes' walk) so I was more or less prepared for the shortcomings.
This property is run down and offers basic amenities.
No empty mini bar, phone or bottled water in room, but the reception is staffed even at night so that's a plus. There's a water dispenser and soft drinks for sale near the reception.
I had the 'Romantic' room. There was what looked like a lump of hair and chewing gum the size of a 5 cent coin, stuck to the shower floor. I couldn't remove it - it looked like it'd been stuck there for eons and it really grossed me out every time I used the bathroom!
After my first request the day after check in for help to remove it (via reception), nothing was done, so I left it alone, as my stay was just 4 nights
The bathroom presented all the challenges, besides the unwanted permanent floor 'decoration'.
The shower area had no curtain so after a shower, the toiket, toilet roll, the whole floor plus a bit of the bedroom's side was wet wet wet. I made daily requests for changes of 2 floor mats (1 was for wiping the floor only).
On the service, the staff were all friendly - Afekah (sp?) and Hashim were polite and responsive, provided accurate directions when requested. They were the plus point of this stay.

Good shower pressure and the aircon was cool. Perhaps, they need to improve alot in order to sustain or repeat customers. Don't have the room pictures.
