Not good/disgusting

Normally I am not that picky but this hostel is really disgusting. Especially the toilets and showers are teeny tiny and not clean (mold). The floor is sticky and the kitchen makes no better impression. The common room is not cozy at all. Also there is a old lady living there, which is kind of irritating. The photos here on TripAdvisor seem not uptodate .

Filthy

Got a family room, which was large and had a window, though the glass was too dirty to see much out of. Room is filthy, with grey sheets and pillowcases, rock hard pillows, and clumps of dirt in the corners of the room. Whatever you do, do not look on the window sill in the bathroom. Brekkie is served in a disgusting alcove which you are supposed to take your shoes off to enter. While eating strange looking people exit from a room just off the alcove where it seems they may be living. Gross!!!!

Not my favourite

AC was working well and the dorm was big and clean. I was, however, dissapointed with the staff and the common area facilities. Breakfast area also felt kind if dirty and the smell in the hostel was odd. I usually don’t mind too much where is stay but I found cheaper place in KK with much nicer vibe.

STAY AWAY

The worst place we have ever stayed. It might be on the cheaper side but not worth it. Beds are extremely uncomfortable and gave me and my partner bad backs, pillows are like concrete, there was mould in the bathroom and toilet so clearly has not been cleaned in a while. The double room was so small and cramped there is nowhere to put your bags. Staff were unable to help with tours. The owner is rude and has bad customer service. Aircon is dirty and ended up getting me sick. Breakfast is very diappointing just bread and jam so not worth eating, we went out and bought breakfast. Its also really noisy with traffic. There are so many nicer places to stay in Kota Kinabalu close by and in similar price range so stay away from this one.

Good location

We had booked a room with window and 2 double beds. The morning we were checking in they wrote us they only had another room. When we turned up in the late evening, they showed us a tiny room, no windows and 2 bunk beds. Not quite the same. The worst part was actually that the receptionist didn't try to excuse it anyway. And we were told the price was the same. We ended up sleeping there and moved to the bigger room the next night. This was an ok room. Breakfast was at another flor. Simple with toast and jam, coffee and tea.
The lodge is in a nice part of KK.
