Lovely & beautiful heritage Teriang House
The Teriang heritage house made our trip to Langkawi uniquely special & memorable! Love the peaceful atmosphere & the beautiful heritage house in the fishing village. Pat & Susan are the most hospitable people! We enjoyed our stay & it’s truly a home away from home. Looking forward to stay at the Teriang heritage house again for our next trip! ♥️

A clean and comfortable authentic village experience off the beaten track in Langkawi
This is a comfortable, air conditioned and well priced two room & bathroom cottage in a small rural fishing village. It is authentic and interesting, but don't stay here if you're just looking for Instagram content as there is no swimming beach at your doorstep and the area looks run down to Western eyes... it's a village! However, there is a beautiful mosque nearby, and a jetty/breakwater which the locals use to ride out and watch the sunsets. A short walk takes you to the main road where you can get fabulous local food, and friendly people and families are everywhere. We found this part of the island preferable to the busier beach end where there is nothing much other than try-hard tourist tatt. You need to download and use the brilliant Grab (Uber equivalent) app which we found provided a cheap and reliable source of transport. The hostess Patty is helpful, knowledgeable and well travelled and was keen to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our short two night stay here and were glad we found somewhere truly off the beaten track.

Old comfortable house
We stayed here for 3 nights in the huge red room. The bathroom was a covered outdoor type which added to the character of the house. Downstairs, there was a shared kitchen and huge shared ( with any blue room guests) lounge area.
The owners live at the back and access through the lounge and they are always friendly and willing to share information about what to do etc.
Yes it is down a track and in a fishing village, but that adds to the character of the place.
A car or motorbike is a must to get around Langkawi so needing one to get to this place is no surprise.

Give this a very wide berth
Where to begin? Whilst accepting the premise that one man's meat is another man's poison, we are still struggling to come to terms with the discrepancy between what we were sold, the reviews and what we found. We can only congratulate the person who wrote the text selling us the dream on booking.com and the photographer who managed to turn reality into something idyllic. This was supposed to be a relaxing stay at the end of a long trek around Malaysia - to kick back and relax slightly off the beaten track, perhaps stroll down to the jetty and look at the fishing boats, a swim from the nearby beach before breakfast, sitting in the garden outside our heritage cottage with a book, walking up to a family run restaurant ..... ass as per the description - absolutely not true! Our daughter arrived some hours before us and had a good chance to look around the area ahead of us and take photos to support our review. The property: in fairness we didn't get to see the main house, but our accommodation was basic by any standards with poor quality bedding, concrete floors covered with dirty mats, very unappealing bathroom. The garden was poorly maintained gravel with a few pots - the beach appeared to be accessible only by climbing over some very challenging rocks to a small strip of sand littered with plastic. We're not sure which of the run-down shacks lining the dirt track to the property was the family run Chinese restaurant - could it have been the one with a few plastic chairs on a verandah? The area surrounding the property was littered with huge concrete pipes (see photos) - the dirt track off the main road led both our taxi drivers to question whether we'd got the right address! We were booked here for 3 days but were unable to stay. We have tried to negotiate with the owner who feels a small goodwill payment from booking.com is enough - we paid the same here as a luxury 4* hotel in Kuala Lumpur! You may wish to judge for yourself but I really wouldn't bother ....

Misleading Pictures and Property details
We stayed on this property on the night of the 16th of August.
At the arrival we were faced with a single track muddy path which was flooded due to the rain.
There is no beach or see view. The bathroom is open air without rooftop. The property is shared with the owner that leaves upstairs. Some of the pictures in booking belong to the owners house and not for the guests.
The worst part was that frogs were out at night making very laud noises until 2h30am and we could not sleep.
In the AM the owner Patty offered us hear plugs.
When we asked for refund so we could find another place where we could sleep she refused and until now no refund was given not even for the two nights that we did not stay over.
Please be careful and read carefully all the comments in booking before making your reservation.
