Decent Stay

My first ever stay in Kudat town as before this, my visits were to the Tip of Borneo where I spent a night on two of my visits. The hotel share the same building with Milimewa Supermarket and it has no lift. The room was basic and good enough for short stays at budget price. Located only within walking distance to the waterfront, community market, coffeshops and stalls.

Better than expected accommodation in Kudat

I was a bit nervous about our stay here, having read some awful reviews. We are a family of 20 on a road trip around Sabah & Upper Deck was the only hotel that could accommodate a group of our size.
I needn't have worried. Check-in was smooth & we had 7 rooms split between queen bed, twin, & family (which were actually connecting) rooms.
All the rooms were spacious, clean, the beds comfortable, good a/c & shower.
The Upper Deck was fine for our group & I wonder what all the other reviewers felt was so wrong. It did the job perfectly for us, & at less than rm120/room, we have no complaints.
There's a supermarket next door & the fish market just 2 minutes away.
The only downside is the rooms are on the 3rd floor & there's no lift.

large queen size room ... but bad smell in the room - The urine's smell is also quite strong throughout the room and toilet. A kettle is available but sugar + coffee are not provided. What's suprising me is the cups attached in a plate.. like im not allowed to use it! Terrible....

Terrible

Stay there for one night at Deluxe Room with one double bed & one single bed. Check in was faster & staffs was friendly. Room was big but not cleaning. The floor is very dirty & bedside have dusty. Bathroom is dirty & bad smelly. The toilet bowl won't functions well. Bed is not comfort & pillow have bad smelly.

Simple.

The hotel is good for business trip compared to other hotels available there, which is more expensive. For example, when I walked into Ria Hotel, they told me the hotel single rooms were all fully booked. Only left studio rooms which is costed RM350/night.
I'm glad that I found Upperdeck Hotel which is in the Kudat city center.
Eventhough, Wifi is not really functioning well.
