Alonto Hotel was a gamble for us flying from Australia, a gamble that paid off. AUD 44.00/night for two rooms (connecting) and a bathroom (very small toilet and shower combined). Air con was deliciously cold, beds were firm and comfy, pillows good too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location couldn’t be beat. We overlooked the heart of Sandakan which meant walking distance to local restaurants, markets and the heritage trai. Highly recommend this hotel if you are seeking budget accommodation in the heart of beautiful Samdakan.

The hotel room is enough for spending the night and unwinding after a long day exploring the national parks.
You gotta turn on the water heater in order to get good water pressure and hot water, something I didn’t know at first.
The staff are friendly and the hotel is well located. It’s closed to the sea and located in the center of Sandakan. There are many restaurants around and lovely quirky streets. A restaurant I would recommend is Balin. It’s a fusion restaurant that serves delicious cocktails and offers ocean views, making it a perfect spot to catch the sunset over a delicious meal.

Television not function well,heater also not function.But location very strategic from mall,downstrairs have restaurant so no worries about food

Just nice!

For a budget hotel, very impressive to have many facilities such as wifi, cable tv etc. Location wise very good. Located at the centre of Sandakan town. Few steps to Harbour Mall. Young but Well-trained staff & receptions! Keep up the good work!!

Worst budget ever

Staying here for 2 nights with my officemate and took 2 rooms. Entering the lobby has given unpleasant smell. Clearly from the unproperly drying the wet carpet. Counter too noisy with group of young boys talking. Smells continue until the top floor where we stay. Room that I took also smelly. Can't get g8od sleep the whole 1st night. Noise come from the corridor where the young boys and girls playing like child.
My officemate even worst. Not only smelly, the young boys and girls whose stay the next room also making noise on night time. Notice the counter boy is friend with them but doing nothing to ask them to silent. Not worth it and sure no more 2nd stay.
Main page website says kettle provided but there aren't. Even hotels in Tenom and Sipitang are better even without much tourist like Sandakan.
