Disappointing experience.
We checked in on the 21/12/23 and checked out on 22/12/23.
The facilities and services did not match our expectation. Rudness of one staff toward us was unexpected from this company.
On our arrival to the facilities from where we started our journey to the desert camp we were rushed to pack the camels. As a result of being hurried we lost a backpack padlock. We were expecting to meet Hassan, the tour organiser, but we never met him throughout our stay in the Merzouga area.
Toilet facilities were very basic: Initially, there was no water to wash, later on a container was put directly on the sand but no bowl to pour the water in and no tap was attached to the water container. Therefore, we were not able to use water in the toilet. There was no disinfectant product for the hands throughout our stay.
We could not shut the door of our tent.
Based on our experience of meals in Morocco, the food quality was average.
When I booked for 1 night, Hassan mentioned by writing that there would be a camp fire and musicians. None of those promises materialised.
On our return to the base we voiced our disappointment about the lack of camp fire and musician entertainment. Our remark was made in a dismissive way by one of the staff. He laughed at us, made disparaging comments and took a drum in his hand to play the instrument in a child like way. We were shocked by his discourteous behaviour.
We were expecting to meet Hassan at the hotel and be provided private transport to Tinghir at the cost of 150 dirhams each as stipulated on a written message. Private transport never turned up. Instead we had to wait for a Grand Taxi taking us to Rissani, then a second Grand Taxi to reach a connecting bus to Tinghir from Erfoud.
Overall the experience provided by Sabakutour was poor. Considering the low quality of the service provided by this company, we asked for a small rebate. They refused to give us back any fees and treated us with contempt. On the 29th December I received a written message from Hassan containing swear words. We were relieved we had made the decision to stay for only 1 night.
Needless to add that I would not recommend Hassan and his company. If you want to proceed with them make sure you bargain hard as pledges may not be fulfilled.
