Great vibes! I will be back!
This review is coming from the perspective of a solo traveler. I will definitely return! NYX is budget-friendly, but the customer service gives luxury. At breakfast, I asked for salt for maybe 2 days. The next day, salt appeared at my table without me having to ask.
One day, I asked housekeeping to supply me with 3 sets of towels. Everyday after that, I had 3 sets of towels. I'm extremely anal when it comes to cleanliness and my room was always spotless.
I attended the sound bath which was really cool. Meditation is always awesome. Someone in the group was so relaxed, they started snoring. I was trying my best to not laugh out loud. It was great.
Next up, the spa. I received an amazing deep tissue massage from Marlene. The amount of pressure she applied was second to none. The only drawback was that I indicated my trouble spots on the paperwork I filled out, but for some reason she only hit one of the 3 spots I needed to be worked on. When I return, I'll make sure to verbally communicate my needs.
My favorite bartender at the pool was exceptional. His name is Juan Jose, I think, but everyone called him JJ. I have an insulated travel cup to keep my drinks cold. When I would ask for a drink, he would wash the cup to make sure it was completely clean before he poured my drink in it. No other bartender did that.
I did have one mishap at the Italian restaurant, Chianti. The server wasn't to my liking. He made me feel rushed and would CONSTANTLY tell me my choices were not a part of the all-inclusive, as if I didn't have any money. I left after taking 2 bites of my main course. After I ate, I went up to the front desk to cancel the reservation I had made at Chianti for the following day.
The next morning, I attended a wine tasting. It was amazing. I learned about Mexican vineyards and pairings. I had a blast!
Unbeknownst to me, the gentleman, Ernesto, who taught the course was also the manager at Chianti. As I was leaving the tasting, he approached me and said that he recognized me from the night before and asked if he could make it up to me. I accepted his offer.
Let me tell you, he gave me one of the best dining experiences I ever had! He served me the entire time. He paired wine with my food and gave in-depth explanations. He introduced me to an espresso martini with cheese! It was muy delicioso!! He more than made up for the questionable treatment that I received.
I almost forgot, the yellow tail Nigerian at Umami was some of the best I've ever had!
I could probably go on and on, but I'm tired of writing. I said all of this to say, if you are looking for an affordable trip to Cancún, you definitely need to consider NYX.

Spring Break 26 - family of 3
We stayed for 14 nights at the NYX Hotel Cancun, and it was our first time choosing a smaller 4★ resort in Cancun.
All the staff were incredibly hardworking and consistently polite—to me, my husband, and our 5-year-old. From reception to wait staff, chefs, and groundskeepers, everyone was lovely. It was disappointing, however, to see some guests being rude and unkind to them at times.
A huge shoutout to Estephanie and her team—especially Francesco and Jordan—who were absolutely amazing and made us feel so welcome. We joined in with loads of activities like bracelet making, aqua gym, water volleyball, and the margarita competition, all of which were great fun.
Easter Sunday was made extra special by the staff, with an egg hunt and fantastic prizes including massages, T-shirts, and free cabanas. We won a bottle of tequila, a coconut filled with a drink of our choice, and vouchers for free cocktails. All the children received candy and a small toy egg, which was a lovely touch.
Juan Jose at the Magic Bar truly delivered 5★ service—he works so hard! We especially loved his frozen mango daiquiris and Bahama Mamas.
Food-wise, the buffet restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was my favourite, with made-to-order eggs, fresh fruit, meats, and pastries. Lunch at the Deck Restaurant was nice, but the menu didn’t change over our 14-day stay, which became a bit repetitive. Dinner at Balam had different themes each night, we always found something tasty.
Our room—a Sunset Suite with lagoon view—was spacious, comfortable, and had a beautiful terrace where we enjoyed evenings. The bathroom had his-and-hers sinks and a large shower with provided toiletries. For our anniversary, the hotel surprised us with a beautifully decorated room, sparkling wine, and chocolate-covered strawberries—such a thoughtful gesture.
Cons:
The Chianti restaurant wasn’t really worth it in our opinion. While the food and service were good, cocktails and wine came at an extra charge—even on an all-inclusive package—which was disappointing.
There also weren’t enough sunbeds by the pool. We were aware of this beforehand, but over 14 nights, I only managed to get one three times. I wasn’t willing to wake up very early just to reserve one. Beach beds were easier to find, and the beach itself was beautiful—even with some seaweed, which staff worked hard to clear.
We also did two trips to Xel-Há and Xplor, both about 1.5 hours away. Pick-up was at 7:15am, and if you book through reception, they’ll prepare a packed lunch for you.
We also went to the spa for a couples massage and enjoyed the steam room and ice shower before. The massage for 50 min was so lovely. Oscar and is team were so welcoming and we left feeling so relaxed.
Overall:
After 14 nights, would I recommend this hotel? Yes—100%. It’s ideal for adults or for shorter stays, especially if you’re passing through.
