U srcu živahnog Mexico Cityja, na samo nekoliko koraka od tržnica rukotvorina i 3 bloka od Metropolitanskog kazališta i Palače lijepih umjetnosti, ovaj hotel nudi praktične sobe i pažljivu uslugu.

An old hotel with amenities and in the center of the old city.
The hotel is not modern but it has charm, style, and above all it is welcoming. They arranged for a cab with the same driver to take us to the different tour bus pickup points for the entire week at about 1/3 of the regular fare. I went on line to verify this. The in house restaurant served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was for any meal nothing less than excellent. The western (read that American) selections were few but they were willing to try new things if you asked them. Room service was fast and very friendly. Rooms were comfortable with huge king size beds. The hotel is within walking distance of the Old Royal Post office, the huge central museum, parks, central library, a huge market where you can bargain for just about anything and let,s not forget Mexico City,s own China Town. Not your usual tourist hotel. There was only one other English speaking couple in the hotel from New Zealand and we only met them in passing in the lobby one day.

much to improve in reception
When I tried to contact the hotel by phone, they answered until the 5th or 6th call, the information on the price of the room differs from what appears on the page, when I spoke again to clarify they answered me again on the fifth call, they did not know how to answer me and they hung up on me
I booked on the website and they respected the price, they assigned me a room on the ground floor, at 6 am I woke up to the loud music coming from the reception so I went out and asked for it to be turned down, but in the meantime they woke me up. When I returned to take a nap at 1:00 p.m., loud music again came from the hotel kitchen since it was in the same hallway as the rooms. I asked them to let me down, fortunately they did and closed the door.
I didn't have towels, I had to request them in person since the room phone number was never answered at reception. They only brought me 2, I needed a towel to dry my hands and the one that is placed in the shower. They don't have an iron, I had to request it and they lent it to me.
The good: spacious, clean room, comfortable pillows and mattress, has covered parking (the staff there does not greet you)
I hope they take action on this.

Get a better hotel somewhere else
Hotel was clean enough, however my room was facing the street and I couldn't sleep all night because of the compressor noise. no AC. There are a ton of middle priced hotels, pick a better one instead.

Dirty bed, bad customer service and noisy
visited on 7/5/2017, worn out sheets with holes, found dirt between the sheets and what it appears to be a band aid. Requested 2 extra towels at the service desk (by the way, he did not even acknowledge me and went on with his work) and the guy wanted me to pay $100 pesos. Asked to speak to the Manager, the service desk guy was bothered by my request. Manager was worst than the service desk guy. Manager said that he was out of towels and that I was not the only one in the hotel and for the price I paid, I couldn't get extra towels. Manager ignored my request and told me to leave to my room that they would try to find an extra towel. I ended up getting 1 extra towel at no charge by one of their maids. God forbids asking them to change my sheets. We were on the first floor with windows facing the street, you could hear the cars passing by and the people walking by. Restaurant food is good. Location is excellent.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat
I was very pleased with my room at this hotel, with a comfortable king-sized bed. The mattress was very comfortable, supportive yet also soft. However the pillows could use replacing imho.
The lights/tv and a/c are all controlled by leaving your room key in a little 'key insert' near the front door. If you don't leave your key there while in the room, the lights and other items will turn themselves off. I guess this is a smart way to control electricity usage.
The location is just a block and a half away from a wonderful panaderia with very reasonable prices; 2 blocks from a bank & ATMS (BBVA Bancomer), and a large Metro station (Balderas) for ease of getting around the city. Also an OxxO is just a half-block away if you need anything at all hours of the day or night.
I felt quite safe wherever I ventured in the area at all hours; granted I was not out and about in the wee hours of the morning, but never an issue in the least. A few good taquerias to the East but I would recommend avoiding the Taco Carts in the park above the Balderas Metro station that DO NOT have running water. Some actually tap into the faucets available and are probably fine; but I would avoid those that do not.
