Friendly hostel, rooftop bar and great location

Top hostel, great location and amazing staff. We stayed at iguana hostel over Christmas 2024, and had the best time (turkey and karaoke)
The rooms were good size, the hostel has lots of character and is well located to get into central Oaxaca.
Whether you want to make new friends, or have a chilled one on the hammock - Iguana is perfect for staying (although if deffo going, book in advance if you can. Popular spot)

Good stay

Iguana is centrally located in oaxaca and Centro , breakfast everyday is different which is good and also local dishes i enjoyed native cocoa drink , good bunk free beds with curtains as well, Netflix

Excellent Hostel which ticks all the boxes

This hostel ticked all the boxes for us in Oaxaca:
- Location - Perfect... right in the heart of town
- Social - Well designed... the design and staff make it really easy to feel welcomed and to meet others
- Free Breakfast - OUTSTANDING! Different every day and really tasty - no wonderbread and sh
tty coffee here.
- Clean with Hot Water - Yes - clean and yes hot water - even late in the morning after everyone else has showered
-- Comfy Beds - NO BUNK BEDS and lots of space - well designed
-- Excellent Wifi - all over the hostel - even in the newly built rooftop working space
-- On Site Bar - cheap, cold beer means we don't need to go anywhere else!
-- Non Smoking inside (if only people didn't need to smoke outside either - alas that is too much to ask)
Seriously... stop looking at any other property!

Great social hostel

We loved our stay at Iguana - the vibe was perfect for us, if you’re looking for a social hostel this is the one! The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our awkward arrival and departure times. Beds are comfy with decent lamps and plug sockets (which accept GB plugs, yay!) the breakfast is SO good and the rooftop bar is such good fun with great happy hour deals - when it’s quiet time the majority of guests head out to local bars which was great fun. The hostel dog Rocco is the sweetest pooch in the world and the hammocks and outdoor areas are beautiful for lounging around. The only downside was the toilets and showers could get pretty grim but as soon as the cleaners did their magic they were to a higher standard again. Would definitely recommend for any social travellers!

Really cool, chill hostel with a great location

This hostel has a great location, just a few minutes walk from the Zócalo. There is a really chill vibe in the hostel and the staff are great. There are tours and events every night and the bar is great with cheap beer and a great rooftop. Downfall is lack of air conditioning. Also, our dorm was into a courtyard and there was no key to the latch on the door so the door was kept open all the time. This meant that the mosquitos ate us alive! Didn’t taint our experience too much though, would definitely stay there again!
