Rural, noisy but very cosy and welcoming

If you are looking for the confort of a modern hotel, go elsewhere: everything is quite simple, the windows and doors are old enough to let the air go through... and the noise too. There is a lot of noise, from the other rooms, from the environment which is rural. So be prepared to have dogs barking, porks crying... But otherwise it is greatly located, excellent view towards the mountains, walking distance from Zocalo but no disturbance of the bars or restaurants, clean, service is good. Excellent breakfast, I recommend the simple "huevos al chancho" fantasticos.

Very nice view, good breakfast, but noise during the night

The hotel is picturesque, with a beautiful view and a very pleasant environment. However, we were woken up several times during the night by the sounds of pigs and dogs. This is the biggest downside of the hotel.
The breakfast is complete, typical Mexican, and delicious.

Hotel San Jorge

The hotel and rooms were pleasant and comfortable. The hotel staff were very welcoming. The breakfast was very good.
There are quite a few things to do around: visiting the city on foot, waterfalls, visiting coffee plantations, walks. The majority of activities are done by car.
The only downside was the frequent noise of animals around the hotel, especially at night (dogs, pigs, roosters).
I recommend the hotel!

Charming hotel

Hotel San Jorge is a lovely family-run place built into the side of a hill with great attention to detail in the rooms and charming touches throughout, like colorful embroidered pillow covers, wicker baskets for towels, and ceramic shampoo and conditioner holders. Each room is a separate little almost-bungalow connected by walkways, and many have private balconies overlooking the mountains and the picturesque Cerro Cabezon. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to answer questions, park my car, and give me advice. They even let me leave my car there after checkout while I was taking a tour. The hotel also has a little museum with an interesting collection of artifacts and vintage items that the owner enjoys showing the guests. The breakfasts each morning were prepared to order and delicious. The hotel is a short two-block walk to the Zocalo and there are several shops and a large supermarket nearby. The only problem was that there was a kind of musty smell in the rooms--something others have commented on--but I didn't notice it after a while.

Visited hotel San Jorge

Our friends had to visit the area for her job to identify some artifacts in town. We met the owner of the hotel and he was very welcoming and showed us around his hotel along with his collection of several old items. I would have loved to have stayed at this hotel because it reminded us so much of Tuscany in Italy. Hope to make back some day soon , I tell all our friends of its beauty and how clean the streets were. Five stars*****
