When we arrived we were extremely disappointed to find that there is a Massive Construction Site right next door. Tons of noise and dust all day long. No peace and quiet. I talked to the manager and she just shrugged and said there was nothing they could do. I enquired about a refund and they said to speak to the owner. He was no help at all either. When we returned from dinner to the hotel there was No Electricity in the entire complex! There was no one even working the desk. There was not a single employee there to help. No A/C. No Wifi. Sand on the floor that was from the previous guest. The electricity returned at 5am when all the lights suddenly turned on waking us up. Then at 7am on a Saturday the construction noise started. Again, no manager on duty until 11am. We decided to check out but there was no manager so we just left the key at the desk. And the owner finally showed up. We complained about the conditions and he said we were lying about the electricity being off.
WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE IN TULUM after 6 years of going twice a year.

Horrible customer service

Do not book with Playa Canek Beachfront Eco Hotel if you value customer service. We booked a room ~10 months ago, and then ~6 months I unfortunately suffered an servere illness and am medically unfit for travel. We advised Playa Canek of this at the earliest instance, 6-months ago, of this to cancel the booking - doing the right thing and giving them ample time to find someone else for the booking. Disappointly they have outright refused this request, dispite providing them with a legal certification of illness signed by our doctor. They have been terrible to deal with, slow to respond, and lack understanding entirely. I would not recommend this place if you value good communication and customer service. Just terrible and disappointing.

From the beginning it was not looking good!

From the beginning it was not looking good!
Cars blocked the passage, so difficult to access. Then at the reception person, we had to ring 3 times, a guy arrived but he was riveted on his phone to exchange with I don't know who... it lasted forever, during that time the mosquitoes attacked us...the room how to say? Very spacious, good bedding but the mosquito nets all holed so rebel the mosquitoes! And the holes in the roof...
In the morning we searched the restaurant for breakfast, no signs ... we turned until someone from the hotel told us where it was... in short very very disappointed! We do not recommend!

Rooms were outdated balcony did have chais to sit it was a bench made out of wood couldn’t even sit outside not comfortable it rained inside the room beach was nice. Breakfast was the same everyday no menu

No one at reception at 5 pm. Breakfast the chef has no milk or cream or tea. He offer two dry toast with scrambled egg. Height of poor service
