Beatiful pool area in quaint town

This hotel is located in a seriously small town. Bring cash, as there is only 1 ATM and stores close early (compared to the USA). The pool could use some repairs but is still beautiful.
I would stay here again

Dirty, ant infested rooms, no one available to check in or out or address the many problems like no working toilet. Stole $2700mx from me, I paid for a tour, they took my money then refused to provide tour or refund.
Don't let them steal from you.

No wi-fi, road noise, people/security guard noise, dodgy reception

I requested to view the room - I was told that the person at the reception was working alone. I found out later that there were at least 2 others in the back room that could have showed me rooms. Wi-fi didn't work. When questioned around 4:30pm, I was told to try again in an hour or so. I tried internet access - no luck. Went back to the front office - they were closed. I believe the receptionist knew that wi-fi was out, but dodged the question because she didn't look me in the eye the next morning during check out. Loud noise kept me up throughout the night. Very uncomfortable bed and pillows.

Excellent for Studying Maya Sites

We stayed at the Hotel Calakmul while studying the Rio Bec style Maya sites in the area. It has a excellent location because it is nearby almost a dozen ancient Maya cities including Calakmul. We saw some of the most interesting places for the study of the Maya that can be found in the southern Yucatan. Calakumal is huge, the masks at Kohnnlich are fantastic, the stucco frieze at Balamku is spectacular and many other interesting Maya sites are only a short drive from Hotel Calakmul. A flyer at the hotel led us to an excellent cave in a small village which was not only filled with pottery shards, but also contained a burial. We even had some adventure traveling into the jungle trying to locate the rarely visited sites of Rio Bec and Nadzcaan. The ac rooms and pool felt great after long days of exploring.

Nice Hotel, Bad Visit

Nice Hotel, good location, parking. However it took two rooms to get the TV to work right, and they turned the internet off as it was raining. The only internet was in the Restaurant. And they ignored us when we were trying to order something to eat. We observed people served before us who had arrived after us. Lois also got bites in her separate bed.
