Favourite spot in KTM

The staff at Square Hotel are incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is really excellent, morning and lunch, and the location is perfect - Walking distance to lots of really cool restaurants, shops and tourist spots in Patan. Having stayed in many places in KTM, this was definitely my favourite.

Loved my stay! Thank you team square.

As someone who genuinely enjoys exploring hotels and trying different properties whenever I travel, I’ve developed a rather specific checklist for what makes a stay truly memorable. Comfort matters to me more than most people might imagine, especially because I have certain medical requirements that, if not properly accommodated, can easily derail an otherwise perfect trip.
This is exactly why my stay at The Square Hotel, Jawalakhel was such a delight — the team didn’t just meet my needs, they went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable throughout my stay.
During my visit I had the chance to experience two room categories — the King Double and the Suite — and both were excellent in their own way. What immediately stood out was the automated in-room system, which made controlling lights, curtains and room settings seamless and incredibly convenient. It’s one of those little luxuries that quietly elevates the entire stay.
Now let’s talk about something that can make or break a hotel stay: the mattress. At first touch it might not seem overly plush, but give it a night and you’ll understand its magic. I have a pre-existing back issue and, surprisingly, this mattress ended up doing wonders for my back. I woke up feeling better than I had in days — something I genuinely did not expect.
The hospitality deserves special mention. From the front desk to housekeeping, and from the restaurant team to room service, every interaction was marked by warmth, politeness and genuine attentiveness. It never felt forced — just sincere, gracious hospitality that makes you feel truly welcome.
And the food — oh, the food! Absolutely scrumptious. Even the late-night menu had great options, which is always a blessing when travel schedules get unpredictable. But the real star for me was the Lukla Aalu. I’m fairly certain I will miss that dish long after checkout — possibly for the rest of my life.
Practical comforts were equally impressive. The water pressure in both the shower and bidet was excellent (a detail seasoned travellers know is far from guaranteed). And as someone extremely particular about toiletries, I had mentally prepared to rely on my own — but the in-room toiletries were genuinely excellent. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion — everything was high quality and solved my “bring half the bathroom with me” travel habit entirely.
All in all, The Square Hotel in Jawalakhel delivers thoughtful comfort, excellent hospitality, and a genuinely enjoyable stay.
