This is such a cute, small hotel, and we enjoy coming back. The best part, for us, is the 24/7 staff presence at the front desk. It feels very secure knowing someone is always available to let you in. The staff has always been decent, and the simple included breakfast is a convenient perk.
The courtyard is a lovely feature. We'd love to see it brought back to its former glory with more plants! A few small updates, like checking the electronics in the rooms, would make the stay perfect. We look forward to our next visit.

Human Waste in Shower + Fair Refund Denied — Avoid This Hotel

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable and future guests should be aware.
I stayed at Hotel Los Altos in Estelí from April 3–6. While my sister’s room (#7) had no issues, my experience was completely different and concerning.
First, I was placed in room #5 where the air conditioning did not work; it blew hot air. I reported this to staff (Benjamín), was told it would be fixed, and it never was.
Second, one night we returned close to midnight after attending a family vigil, and were unable to enter because the staff member on duty did not open the door. He later told us he had been asleep with headphones on.
Third, I was moved to room #8. While the AC worked, the bathroom had a strong sewage odor. Upon inspecting the shower, I discovered human feces present in the shower area. I immediately called staff, who came and recorded a video of it themselves. This is a serious sanitation failure.
What is most concerning is the hotel’s response. They acknowledged the condition of the room but deflected responsibility, stating: “…a veces uno no puede saber que van hacer los huéspedes y parece que se hicieron pupu en el baño y quedó el mal olor.”
In other words, rather than taking accountability for proper cleaning and sanitation between guests, they shifted blame.
They also refused to provide a fair refund and attempted to condition even a partial refund on me agreeing not to leave a negative review.
I strongly recommend future travelers think carefully before staying here, especially if cleanliness, safety, and basic service standards are important to you.

Main issue was the parking was on the street. A busy narrow street. Front desk did help to secure a spot and later in the evening I was able to move my vehicle to right in front. To me self parking available is a lot off street. Otherwise, it is a solid 3 star property that is appropriately priced.

Parking is off site and you can only pick up or drop off suringnthe day. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Furnishings a little run down

There is no costumer parking, you have to park out on the street. No one at front desk at 7 am when i was trying to get back into the hotel, they lock the front door, so you have to wait for someone to open.
