Great experience at an excellent hotel
We recently had occasion to travel at short notice and as everyone knows when you have to book hotels in Amsterdam at short notice the price can tend to be prohibitive. Not so for Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam where we found a great deal via Booking.com and managed to secure what we believed was a compact/small room. I imagined a Tokyo sized room with space to breathe around the bed but not much else. When we arrived and were told our room was in the lower/basement floor I even thought we’d end up with a no-window room as well but imagine our surprise when on opening the door the room was not just spacious beyond what I expected but also had windows to the outside. Positioning wise I believe we were underneath the restaurant area on the ground floor but even with windows (high set windows, admittedly, but windows nonetheless) opening onto street level and in a high traffic area there was no noise at all. The rest we had overnight was absolute and complete and gave us all we needed and more from a hotel room. Location wise this hotel is perfectly situated for getting on and off tram lines at Leidseplein which gives you unfettered access to both Amsterdam Centraal and many other locations and allows you to walk out into the city. Thank you Catalonia Vondel Amsterdam for a great stay, all the service you provided in keeping our luggage and answering all of our questions and as well for the complimentary drinks you offered us which were very well received indeed. We will certainly make use of this hotel again in the future.

Amazing hotel
Our stay here was perfect from start to finish. Victor helped us to our room with our suitcases, which was very much appreciated, as I really dont pack light! We were early for check in but our room was ready. We stayed for 6 nights, bed and breakfast, and our beds were made every day, apart from 1 when we didn't go far so wasn't needed. Breakfast was fantastic, lots to choose from and very fresh. We stayed in room 435, which was a triple room, and very spacious, and had a bath in the ensuite with a great shower. Very clean, and had air conditioning which we used a lot. Well stocked mini bar, and a safe. Location is perfect, close enough to the centre, but peaceful. And Vondel Park is a few minutes walk away. Shout out to Miko and Victor, but every single one of the staff were very welcoming and so friendly and helpful. If returning to Amsterdam we would definitely book here again! Thanks for a great stay ❤️, Kirsteen(Arsenal fan), Derek(Liverpool fan), and Holly(who ate most of the macaroons at breakfast!)

Two night stay
Stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter
Did feel a bit out of place just the two of us. It was mainly couples or friends more than families. We was asking if he’s only the two off us.
The room was nice, had everything we needed. We just couldn’t close our curtains properly, or the shower only had very hot or cold water
Staff was friendly, we got free drinks and we could check in early
Noise was ok, a few banging doors, but overall was ok.

The hotel is retrofitted into an old residential building (which is not uncommon). However, getting to the room is like going through a maze of narrow, thick carpetted corridors, and stairs - extremely difficult and hazardous if you have heavy luggage to carry. Definitely not appropriate for the elderly or people with disabilities.
