Great stay!!
This was a very charming and lovely place! Me and mother stayed here a while ago and we had a great experience. We where a little scared before arriving because of the not so great reviews but that was change when we arrived. Maybe we where lucky with the room, we had the room on the top floor at the bottom of the corridor with a little french balcony overviewing the canals. The top floor where somewhat connected to the next building (a coffeeshop) by a door so it occurred marjuana smell in our room but that wasn’t a problem. The stairs was very steep so i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who has trouble walking in stair’s (perhaps a senior). There where two fellow toilets in the building with one shower i one of the bathrooms. Breakfast was served on the first floor and it was very cozy.
I would recommend this old and charming hostel, we where vary happy with our stay!

Worst Hostel Ever!
This was one of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in. First, the room looked nothing like the pictures on their website, there was a blood stain on the comforter, the room was smelly, the ceiling was so low that you could almost hit your head, and a half used toilet paper roll was left for us to be reused during the stay. Also, the manager refused to give me a full refund .

Just great!
Attention: this visit was in winter 2019!!
I was here with my teenage daughter, as a present for her 14th birthday. Generally we just loved Amsterdam. But living in this historically and beautiful building just made us really happy! Located in a very nice and quite central area it was easy to reach all our goals by foot. We got a little rum on highest floor with view on the Gracht. As this building is not destroyed by renovating it was a bit of a challenge to get up the stairs as they were very steep! The room itself was simple but very cosy. The ceiling and the floor was uneven which made the historically point even clearer. We had a fellow bathroom which was ok. They had simple but good breakfast in a little lovely rum in the basement of the place.
I would highly recommend this hostel for all because of the little adventureness but not for elderly with handicap.
Although it was quite a while we were there I remembered myself again and again of this place why I now write this and hope it is still actual!!

Perfect place to explore Amsterdam
I've stayed there with my best friend for 3 nights and I totally recommend it.
First of all the owner is very friendly and very helpful. We were even able to check in much in earlier than expected.
The room that we should get was pretty small so my friend asked for a bigger room which was possible. Our new room was specious, had comfortable beds, a TV, a table and a good and clean bathroom as well as a wonderful view on Heerengracht.
The breakfast was good and absolutely enough (toast, cheese, butter, jam, cornflakes, orange juice, tea, coffee).
The location is awesome. It's very central and if you don't mind walking for about 15/20 minutes all the big attractions can be reached by foot (as well as the train station). Near the hotel is Rembrandt Plain which offers a great choice of restaurants as well as a supermarket.
All in all we totally recommend the hotel and would come back to this great place for sure.

Horrible
horrible, the rooms are not clean, there are cockroaches, the common shower is not clean (the toilets are glued to the shower, we did not even stay overnight so this hotel is pitiful and we had to negotiate with the owner so that we get our money back (we have recovered only half) to flee!!!
