charming time travel
If you want to experience dignified, traditional, a little yesterday's hotel culture you are very right here.
Here, “the good old days” have been preserved on a noble level.
The bathrooms were not forgotten to be renovated to a modern, modern level.
Rooms 30 and 31 are recommended.
The branch crown is the crown and really lovingly decorated in detail. You can feel textile passion everywhere, which makes the house very quiet and acoustically pleasant throughout.
Very charming antiquated:
All rooms open and close with a key, with heavy metal pendant twice around. No plastic cards!
The people, the reception, the welcome is very personal...the chef himself says good morning and lights the candles at the table personally in the breakfast restaurant.
The menu and wine list makes you curious. We couldn't notice the restaurant during our stay because we were arranged outside. But what we could see visually looked very tempting.
A visit to the Astenkrone for several days is really recommended.
A little tip:
In the SPA area, a drinking water dispenser would look good.
An in-house personal care product would also be available in the SPA as well as in the
contribute to well-being.

Not 4.5 stars, not worth a trip
The positives first: clean, comfortable beds & nice concierge, extremely helpful.
Food & service are not good: Coke zero 0.33 for 4€ without ice, lemon & also warm I find just as coated as 10€ for sparkling water, which is clearly from the Soda Stream & not the bottle of Pellegrino!
13€ for bare pasta for the child is just as off as the fact that the lady clears the dips, even though you still eat the bread, the wine list is not handed out or you can't change the starter. Very inflexible. Then what 4 stars for?
I was not allowed to take drinks into the wellness area, anywhere understandable. During dinner, however, 2 young men, dressed only in towel, came dripping out of the sauna, ordered a.d. Bar then water, which they were allowed to take to the wellness area. Obviously the rules are guest dependent & very stretchy.
Also d. Breakfast from 08.00h is sparse: when I showed up at 09.00h, there were still five small rolls in the basket, O-juice was empty & d. ate sliced avocado. It wasn't followed up. You can't order a cappuccino etc., although this is possible in the bar - gg payment - you only get filter coffee: the pot is put on the table, hardly any service on site.
Instead of the boss imposingly telling the ladies from the next table “the shop is mine, we see each other more often” at dinner, he should take over the service himself or train his staff better, especially when there are only 10 guests in the house.
Too bad we won't come back & don't recommend the hotel!

Erstens haben wir keinen Concierge und zweitens kostet EINE Flasche Wasser (0,7L) bei uns 5 Euro und kommt definitiv nicht aus dem SODA-Stream - es ist aber auch keine St.Pellegrino, wie man auf der Getränkekarte nachlesen kann.

Typical German hotel with all the trimmings, located in a beautiful location. Really enjoy it!
A lovely hotel to get away from the crowds. Rooms are fine, food and drinks are prepared with good care. Breakfast is just delicious German and the Spa is really great. Lovely sauna (well private) and the pool and whirlpool are really beautiful. Together with a beautiful setting it is really enjoyable!

A nice stay with potential up
The hotel has a great location, convinces by a charming “Sauerland” style and cozy atmosphere.
A beautiful spot on earth where we felt very comfortable.
We have had only three small, but in my opinion justified, reviews, which the very attentive hotel manager also took care of or sought the discussion on this.
The staff in the dining area were extremely friendly, accommodating and warm. Unfortunately, there was a lack of a professional and trained “leader” to guide the really striving employees.
The same is true for the kitchen, because even there the quality and preparation method of the food during the days of the stay differed extremely. Personnel problems...which the General Manager has also acknowledged.
One last tip: Please offer “fresh” bakery rolls at morning breakfast and not baked party rolls, which we all get on every TK shelf of the local grocers. And if “the old breakfast rolls” are replaced by a freshly baked bread at dinner in the evening, we will be happy to come back as your guests.;-) Thanks again for the commitment of your staff in the area of dining, housekeeping and reception, etc!

Very nice romantic hotel to feel good
We stayed here last weekend for one night with our 3 grandchildren and a dog. From the very friendly reception of the reception staff to the farewell, everything was really top. Particularly noteworthy are the absolute cleanliness, the tranquility and the excellent breakfast buffet.
Furthermore, our children even had small bathrobes lying on their beds. They had a lot of fun in the beautiful spa. Also at breakfast a table was set for the 5 of us and the children found everything they like to eat - especially the little croissants had it done to them. The friendly service and the nice lady from the kitchen were happy to follow up. All in all, a successful weekend - except for the unfortunately heavy rain - the only thing the hotel staff can't influence yet:-)
We say thank you and will gladly come back, next time a romantic weekend just for us!
