Disappointing behavior in case of overbooking
Upon our arrival we were told that the hotel was overbooked and we should move to another hotel as there had been a water pipe break. The offered room costs the same.
I had several problems with that:
- We had booked directly with the hotel, our contact details were known. Why haven't we been contacted?
- The spare room was more modern, but had neither Rhine view, nor balcony, nor a refrigerator, so not really equivalent at the same price.
- "It's not our fault we're overbooked." is not a valid excuse for me and even less "Be glad we found a spare room."
Sure, something can break sometimes, but then you apologize to the guest correctly and show up clearly if you want to see him again in the future. The park hotel does not seem to know such a culture of error.

WONDERFUL WEEKEND
Located near the Rhein and within a 10' walk from the city centre.
Hotel team is professional and always available to help.
Breakfast was good as well as the evening meals.
Room and bead was Excellent with a Great view to the river.

Unfriendly and dishonest staff. Hotel acceptable, but a bit outdated and not really worth the price.
However, what we found unacceptable is the apparent dishonesty of the staff and/or the management and their arrogant behavior. Our friends who had the party and booked the hotel rooms for the attending guests had agreed with the manager on a discount for all the guests. The problem was, we only knew about the agreed rate, not the normal one or that there even was a discount. At check out then we were given a bill which was EUR 10 higher than what we had expected. When we asked about it and mentioned that we were guests of the party last night and that we were told the price was EUR 100, not EUR 110 per night, the attending clerk basically told us off in a quite arrogant way that the price is always EUR 110 and that that's it. Not having any written confirmation or anything, guessing that maybe our friends accidentally told us the wrong number and not really feeling like calling them up in the morning after their wedding night we paid what we were told to. Later on, however, we were able to confirm with the married couple that they indeed had agreed with the manager on a special price for all the attendees of the party and also, that apparently NO ONE got it, and all guests were told to pay the "normal", i.e. higher, price. This way to us it looked like a organised scam/rip-off on parts of the hotel...
