Historic and large, good breakfast and beautiful rooms. Some rough spots
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Giant rooms. Breakfast was generous with many traditional Franconian dishes, but the staff was clearly overwhelmed on weekend days and around 9am. Starting to show its age and some things were clearly getting rundown. Nice bar (stick to the beer and wine). They don't clean your room or refresh towels or anything of that sort unless you ask (didn't realize that for first few nights). Front desk staff was reasonably nice and helpful. Gym was poorly appointed but you're there to climb the hills and run along the river!

Very cool historic hotel. Loved the high ceilings. May be hot in mid summer due to no AC. Easy walk to town. Bamberg is wonderful!

Front desk checked us into a dirty room! Then put us in a room with no view on our 30th wedding anniversary which no one even acknowledged after I emailed the front desk twice telling them and they did reply back saying they would do their best. But their best was embarrassing walking into a dirty room after days of trains and planes and now back down to the front desk to get another key to another room with a view of a brick wall!!! So sad!!!

Uncaring service and no air conditioning
I did not pay attention to whether the hotel has air conditioning, but there is none - the night was a nightmare. Service staff friendly but uninterested. Tables are not cleared, no interest in the guest. Reception is okay. Breakfast is okay, although the fried bacon is a highlight. Apparently, the sliced bacon is taken straight out of the package as is and fried. The result is "dumpling-like" bacon formations; there is no chance of taking just a few strips.
The real kicker, however, is the parking garage, which is also publicly accessible. The daily rate for public parking is 20.-; at first, I thought that hotel guests would get a different rate, since there is also a separate hotel area in the garage. But that is not the case, meaning the day costs 20.-, which is an outrage.
The hotel, the building, would have a lot of potential, but unfortunately the rest is so deficient that we will certainly not come back. On top of that, the room costs about double that of other hotels, and then you spend the night in an "oven" with a wobbly fan that does absolutely nothing.
The real kicker, however, is the parking garage, which is also publicly accessible. Ihre Kritik zum Service beim Frühstück nehmen wir ernst und werden diese mit unserem Team besprechen. Auch die fehlende Klimaanlage können wir nachvollziehen. Aufgrund der baulichen Gegebenheiten unseres historischen Gebäudes ist eine nachträgliche Installation leider sehr schwierig. Wir prüfen dennoch laufend Möglichkeiten, den Komfort bei hohen Temperaturen zu verbessern.
Bezüglich der Tiefgarage bedauern wir, dass Sie die Parkgebühren als unangemessen empfunden haben. Die Preise orientieren sich an den örtlichen Parkgebühren in Bamberg.
