Well appointed studio in great location.
I stayed for 3 nights in a spacious studio with large windows overlooking the garden - very light and also quiet at night. The studio was immaculate and I had everything I needed. The location is excellent as near to transport, shops, restaurants and Alexanderplatz. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

This is not a hotel!
This is not a hotel. This is a hostel at a campus. The bed is not good. After 5 minutes under the shower the whole room was filled with water. There is no proper heating as well. The location is good but the price too high for what you get. And they have to be honest at the website. Like I said it is not a 'normal' hotel. And they do not mention that. After nine o 'clock nobody is there anymore. There also is no emergency number.

Great value for money
I stayed for three nights in the Hotel die Schule for a convention and thought the accommodation was great. I had a top floor standard room. It had two beds, a desk and wardrobe in the bedroom, a small kitchen with table and chairs and a lovely big bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean and, while not luxurious, very stylish. I'd definitely book here again, even if traveling with my family. Breakfast was plentiful, with something for everyone and great value at 5 euros per person.
I can't say much about how staff dealt with niggles, because there weren't any! It was also lovely to have free wifi. I was attending an event at the GLS campus and had wifi during the whole convention - and even in the pizza restaurant across the street. The restaurant attached to the language school was also really good.

Experience of Berliner Life
I stayed at the apartment for two nights for a business trip. It was chosen because of its good location and easy access to public transport. A tram station is just in front of the hotel. The apartment was very spacious with high ceilings. Although it's not specifically designed for business travellers, one will find a nice change from ordinary business hotels. The staff was very attentive and helpful. As I checked in late, a security guard helped with key pickup and guided me to the room. It's not easy to find a room at night without the guidance there! Breakfast was good, served in cafeteria style. As mentioned in another review, the hotel is part of German language institute. You'll find students there. Overall, it's very enjoyable experience for some experience of Berliner life, or more exactly German language students in upgraded apartments.

First time was good second time was awful
The first time I stayed here for a few weeks I was staying in a superior apartment, it was nice although a little expensive for what it is. The second time in Summer 2010 I stayed for two weeks. The first week was fine but half way through they told me I would need to move rooms. I had to change my plans for the day to be there at the right time to move. This was obviously very inconvenient and to have to pack and unpack all my stuff was annoying, they weren't even apologetic about it. Then when I got to the other room it wasn't ready. I had to wait around for well over an hour (this was over a year ago so I can't remember how long exactly but I do remember I had time to go complain at reception about 3 times). I suggested that the price for that day should be reduced since I was put out so much but they said I would have to go talk to some other office as they couldn't do anything. I wasn't going to waste more of my holiday trying to do that. The apartment was on the top floor and there was no air conditioning. It was incredibly, incredibly hot in the room making it impossible to sleep or stay there during the day. I was afraid I'd get heat stroke one night it was that bad. They sent up a fan on request but all it did was blow around the hot air. I couldn't wait to leave, it was hell staying in that apartment. Make sure you don't stay on the top floor during the summer.
Also the language school is absolutely awful. Even though the teachers have fluent english they won't speak english. I was in an absolute beginners class so this didn't really work. Sometimes if you couldn't understand what you needed to do for homework or something they would just say 'schade' instead of using english. I though in 8 weeks I could learn quite a bit of german but I learned hardly anything.
