A CHEAPIE PENSION CENTRALLY LOCATED IN WEST BERLIN

the simple uhland pension-hotel is easily reached with bus from the train station zooiogischer garten or U-bahn and within walking distance from the Ku-dam. The pensions is located on the first and second floor of an old builidng- you need to ring the bell and walk up to the second floor. then you have the access to thelift to get heavy luggage up. The romms are adequate- I had a 5 bed room for the night and heating was very good and the room was quiet. Breakfast was surprisingly ample with cheese meat fresh bread juice coffee or tea.

Economic Inn

I stayed alone for four nights for business.
Very old and shabby building, but clean and silent.
Cheap price near downtown with breakfast included.
Only 50 m from U-bahn station is a prime merit.

good for cuples and couples with children but have to walk 800 meter to meet the central Berlin

Perfect if you simply want a cheap bed for a night

I stayed at this place only 1 night but would've stayed longer if they weren't booked out only because it's so cheap and includes breakfast. I booked a single bed room but was put in a dorm room which I had all to myself which was great for space but not so good for heating, I had the heater turned up full which definitely took the chill off but was not 100% cozy which is what I prefer when it's snowing outside. The bed and linen was clean but the hotel itself is quite old and a bit cold and 'dingy' but you get what you pay for at only 20Euros a night for a private room with shared bathroom. They provide more breakfast options then you would expect and was great to have fresh coffee and bread-rolls. Very close to the U Bahn station and bus.

Basic but adequate, good location

There were 3 twin beds in my room, but unlike a hostel I was the only one staying in it. There was a shower, sink, mirror and even hairdryer, but toilet was down the hall. Once I turned up the radiator it was plenty warm, and that made a nice place to dry my towels. Beds were basic but clean and comfortable, and I slept well all 3 night that I was there. It's not in a fancy neighborhood but I felt safe even coming back late at night. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and the U-bahn stop (Hohenzollernplatz, U3) is one block away.
I did have a little trouble finding it the first time because building numbers count up on one side of Uhlandstrasse but down on the other. To get there, come out the Uhlandstrasse exit at the Hohenzollernplatz station, turn right and follow the street a few doors up to the Hotel-Pension. Ring the bell next to the door (clearly marked) and there you are.
Room and toilet were generally clean enough, but the carpet in the room really did need a cleaning. Only other caution was that the same dishes of eggs and some sort of mayo-based ham salad (it looked like, anyway--I didn't eat it) appeared every morning at breakfast; no one seemed to touch them, which was probably wise. I stuck with rolls (excellent, light and crusty) and cheese and jam, but they also had meat out and cereal, yogurt, apples and oranges as well. And there's juice and real milk for the coffee.
Overall, very good value for the money, and the family that runs it (of Korean origin, I think) were very pleasant and left my room alone while I was out, which is not always a given in Germany. I was in room 2, and the wifi worked fine.
