Great stay
I stayed here with a friend for just one night as we were attending a concert at the Uber arena. Great location if you are going to the arena, it’s only a 10 minute walk away if even that! It’s also across the road from a train station which you can get a direct train to the airport from.
All the staff on reception were so friendly and helpful when we checked in and also when we had any questions. We paid €15 each for early check in and late check out which was really helpful for us.
Our room was on the 8th floor - it was spacious and quiet, the beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean with a good shower. The bathroom also had underfloor heating which was a nice surprise. We didn’t even notice that it’s a hotel/hostel tbh as we had a private room just for the two of us, the 8th floor was really quiet and we didn’t notice any big groups or anything.
The staff were also really helpful when the lockers wouldn’t work and we wanted to store our bags for the day.
We would definitely stay again, thank you!

Excellent location.
Great facilities in the surroundings.
Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
The only drawback is the cleanliness. It is not provided unless requested... And even when it's requested they don't.
We stayed 4 days and only on the third we got a change of towels and garbage. Dirty floor even after they claimed to have cleaned. They didn't even raise a paper from the ground or throw away an empty water bottle (which we hadn't thrown away since the basket was full). After our complaints, they proposed to offer us breakfast and also to give us a clean room for the last night.

Youth hostel
This hotel is not suitable for adult people in my opinion. At least I haven't seen anyone beyond 25.
It is crammed exclusively with school classes.
Probably the three beds present in the small rooms are occupied everywhere. And this, of course, followed:
It's crazy loud. Doors are being slammed all the time, so the whole room is shaking. There is conversation and shouting in the corridors. The breakfast room is unspeakably crowded. With 50 people I stopped counting the people in line and then went back to my room without breakfast.
Probably okay for one school class, not recommended for everyone else.
The only plus was that the very spartan room was at least clean and the mattress fine.
You can't say the same about the Hotel Flur. Yes, the red carpet with the dark grey treads is certainly not advantageous, but this carpet not only looks maximally dirty, it is also.

Not a good stay
The rooms have far too little light, the room cleaning is only done on request and not properly. We had to sieve a bed and it is not cleaned under the beds. Breakfast is not worth the € 12.50. In the guest kitchen, all frying pans are made of Teflon and should all be disposed of long ago. The guest kitchen is always full and it has too few pans. Most pans do not have lids. We requested a room cleaning, they didn't clean the room, but took all our deposit bottles with them. On the last day, they dumped our lunch from the communal kitchen, first because it wasn't written off, then when I insisted I get compensation, they slapped that another guest ate our food in Tupperware and took our whole bag with them and they're not liable for it. We booked late check out (until 2 p.m.), nevertheless our room card did not go from 11 a.m. and the cleaning came at 1 p.m., our son took his afternoon nap and we sent them away again. Cleaning didn't know about the late check out. Value for money is not right.

Clean Hostel and excellent value ,
We really liked the hostel/hotel. We travelled as a family of five and stayed in a six person dormitory. The accommodation is clean, modern, and well maintained. We will try more Meininger Hostels.
