Good location, strange interior design, and incompetent receptionist.

Incompetent and really slow check-in. The receptionist who helped us was unable to perform a single independent action - she couldn't find our reservation and asked if we were sure we were at the right hotel, and she was decidedly rude. The very long wait while they tried to arrange our check-in was not mentioned or apologized for by her or the two other employees who helped her.
Actually a cozy hotel with a good location. The furnishing of the rooms, however, sticks out in all directions with mysterious furniture without soul or charm. The inside does not match the fine, old exterior at all.
Would enjoy a beer in the courtyard in the evening, but the service was so sluggish that we gave up.
Breakfast with friendly service.

Very clean, centrally located, and well-appointed hotel in a spectacular setting. We had some issues at check in, but I think it was an unusual situation. The family apartment we stayed in was lovely. My only complaint was that with the current extreme heatwave in Germany, there was no reprieve in the heat for sleeping. If there were fans in the rooms or screens on the windows, we would have slept better.

Better read this review

Good:
Professional staff, even friendly. Good heating, quiet place, excellent bed.
So so:
Breakfast is untypically boring for a German place. They have no concept of Decaf: There are kettles in rooms but decaf isn't an option, even on demand. In a 4 star.
Poor:
The "hotel" consists of severel buildings in the vicinity. I had to drag my heavy suitcase around the block over 150 m of rough cobble stones.
There was no internet in the rooms. And even my own roaming net only worked late at night. Way too week for zoom calls. That's a major disadvantage.
General:
Reaching the town by public transport is,a pain in the neck.
No shopping evenings and Sat / Sun.
Restaurants quite expensive for what they serve. Good enough for Germans and AngloSaxons but if you're Soanish or French do picnics.

Really spectacular! Great breakfast, great front desk. Parking was a problem, but hey, it’s an old walled city. It’s not their fault. And the value and staff made up for the parking.
