Our stay was excellent! The room was exactly as described and perfect for our needs! There was an elevator and air conditioning - needed for a US person traveling in summer. The staff was very helpful and was able to communicate in English, if needed. We decided to add on breakfast later and it was quite delicious! Highly recommend this hotel!

Rather poor

First the positive points: well located within walking distance of the center. The breakfast is extensive, lots of choice, and delicious. But ... 2 nights booked via a booking site. Upon arrival, we got a room on the 3rd floor, under the roof so. Contrary to what was indicated on the booking site, there is no air conditioning here, so it is extremely hot. There was only a rickety plastic toy fan. The fitted carpet is downright dirty, the room is tiny, the bathroom even more so with a shower where you can barely move. The ventilation in the bathroom also didn't work. We are going to report this to the reception where they picked up the shoulders and didn't want to do anything further. We received a larger fan but it didn't work at all, returned to the reception and got another broken one. Eventually, they brought another working fan to our room, but of course that doesn't provide cooling. They have a parking lot, 17 euros per night and require you to hand over your keys to the reception. It eventually turned out why: they stack the carts and the staff moves your cart without any permission themselves. Not subject to repetition

Excellent

Two days as a couple, B&B treatment.
The staff is kind and helpful. Located in a good position, about a 5-minute walk from the center of Freiburg.
Comfort double room 156 is of excellent size, plenty of space even in the bathroom, many outlets, nothing is missing.
Breakfast is really, really excellent and very varied.
It has paid parking for 17 euros per day but with a limited number of spaces. A few meters away there is a parking garage at the same daily rate.
It has a fitness room, terrace, and a very beautiful lobby. It has an elevator.
Vending machine for snacks and drinks for a fee.
Definitely an excellent hotel.

Optimal hotel for a short stay despite minor inconveniences

We had a reservation at the design hotel (5 double rooms + 2 single rooms) for two nights and had to cancel one double room one day before arrival, this without any cost consequences!!!
Upon arrival at 4:30 PM, unfortunately, one assigned single room was not yet ready. The guest was subsequently able to move into another room, but had to go to the reception twice and wait again.
On the 2nd day, the group returned to the hotel around 4:00 PM. 3 double rooms and 1 single room were still in the condition at this time as they were left by the guests in the morning. As an apology for the delayed room service, a drink was offered to the entire group.
The stay was very pleasant nonetheless. Breakfast and the rooms are very good.
We would stay here again anytime.
