Good value for money

Good value for money. A small place with only a bed, shower and toilet, a coffeemaker and TV. No luxury but provided exactly what we needed: a place to sleep after our days in Hamburg. It's right in the St.Pauli's area with little café, bars and restaurants. A lively and artistic part of Hamburg you shouldn't miss. A small walk from the Reeperbahn were all the fun happens. No reception, no personal contact. But the emailing is good enough (entrancecode and where to find your key). If you need luxury, personal assistance or absolute spotless/perfectness than you should book the Empire Riverside Hotel.

Not worth it

Incredibly small. The door of the bathroom was broken and would not close properly, made a horrible screeching sound when trying. Meant absolutely no privacy. The glass wall to the room is sea through, again no privacy. Dirt and dust in every corner and on ledges, etc. The fleece bedcover and decorative pillows were stained and dirty.

Not bad considering the price

For 25 euros for a single room in a great area of Hamburg, I ain't complaining. It did exactly what I needed it to - a place to rest my head after a heavy night of drinking. There's no reception but the property does message you after you book to let you know the code into the building. There is also a massive sign on the door saying St Pauli Lodge. Just got to open your eyes a bit to find it as all the houses around the area look exactly the same. Maybe a flag or something to make it stand out would be helpful? Shared bathroom was clean enough. The walls and the pillow were incredibly thin. But again, at 25 euros you get what you pay for.

Worst customer support ever!

When you arrive to the place there is no way to contact the receptionist but calling to the hotel, if you are a tourist from germany is ok, if you are from somewhere else, we ready to increase your phone bill, then, when you call him, he does not speak english, or even try to say a word in english, (in booking is says they do speak english), he tries to tell you the password to go in, in german, and repeat it many times, but If you dont understand german, he will not go outside to open the door, you ll have to guess it or ask someone walking around the street to help you, then when u finnaly enter the hotel, there is noone waiting for you and no key as well, there is a paper with your name and number of room, and some explanations about the hostel, (in german ofcourse), unless you know german or ask someone again, you ll not know that your key is waiting for u inside the room, to sum up a place where you should not go.

Decent, clean, affordable

Stayed here for 2 nights. A very basic, clean and affordable hotel / guesthouse about 10 minutes walk from the Reeperbahn.
Breakfast not included, but it had everything we needed.
No separate reception, keys and room number were waiting in the lobby when we arrived. Check in 15:00 / checkout 11:00. If you just want an affordable place for the night then this is for you.
