Hanusel Hof
Located in Weitnau, Hanusel Hof is in a rural area and in the mountains. Residenz Kempten and Neuschwanstein Castle are notable landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Hellengerst Golf Club and Alpsee Bergwelt. Eistobel and Nebelhornbahn 1 Cable Car are two other places to visit that come recommended. Enjoy the area's slopes with downhill skiing, ski runs, and ski lifts, and don't miss out on the sledding. Along with a full-service spa, this smoke-free hotel has a golf course and an indoor pool. Free buffet breakfast, free WiFi in public areas, and free self parking are also provided. Additionally, an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and a health club are onsite. Change of towels is available on request. Hanusel Hof offers 55 accommodations with minibars and safes. These individually decorated accommodations have separate sitting areas. Flat-screen televisions are featured in guestrooms. Bathrooms include bathtubs or showers, bathrobes, slippers, and complimentary toiletries. Guests can surf the web using the complimentary wireless Internet access. Business-friendly amenities include desks and phones. Additionally, rooms include complimentary bottled water and hair dryers. Change of towels and change of bedsheets can be requested. Housekeeping is provided daily. Guests can play rounds at the 18-hole golf course and enjoy other recreation facilities including a health club. An indoor pool and an outdoor pool are on site. Other recreational amenities include a sauna. Children under 16 years old are not allowed in the swimming pool without adult supervision. Food TOP - price-performance ratio underground and service not thought to end
The first impression was very positive, starting with the friendly and humorous reception via the friendly staff member who showed us everything and led us to our suite.
The first "Kasus Knaxus" was the information that there is no underground parking for a room that costs € 733 per night. The reason, there is only a mini garage, in addition to a lot of junk from the hotel have only a few car space. And which, by the way, costs another 10 € per night. We were lucky and were able to park our car there, especially as there was plenty of fresh snow that weekend.
Arriving in the quite new suite, we were initially positively impressed. Very nice natural wood, pleasant smell of stone pine, beautiful view, sufficiently large sauna.
The second "case Knaxus" was that there was no underfloor heating in the bathroom, nor in the rooms. In addition, the suite has a duplex layout, i.e. the bed was upstairs and upstairs was without any heating. Not really pleasant at -10°C at night. And going to the bathroom at night was only possible in the lower part of the suite, connected to a bright LED light bar with motion detector, which reached from top to bottom and came on immediately when getting up. Result: Wide awake.
Another point that stood out negatively were the ventilations in the separate toilet and bathroom. The fans had such a powerful motor that we quickly had an unpleasant cold feeling, as already mentioned at -10° C.
Let's get to the next negative point. On our tour after arrival we were also at the restaurant and the very friendly waiter offered to show us our table for the evening. The hotel provided a table right at the entrance of the room, past which all other guests had to pass constantly. After an "outcry" on our part we got a nice table by the window.
One last point we didn't like. In the hotel we offer a so-called gourmet board, i.e. Breakfast and a 4-course dinner. From the experience in many other hotels in the 4*S category, this is handled in such a way that at least at noon a little something is offered, most also cake in the afternoon.
So now for the POSITIVE.
The food of the 4-course menu was perfect on both evenings, both from the preparation, as well as from the very nice side dish and especially from the taste of the individual components. A short conversation with the chef on the day of departure gave us the opportunity to tell him that personally.
All in all, unfortunately, we have to say: We're not coming back.
