Good value for money

All the hotels in the city center were fully booked due to a big exhibition in town. So I found this little hotel 20 minutes by train from the center.
It's a nice family owned little hotel.
The owner is a very nice and friendly lady. I arrived late, there was nobody at the office or reception, but the key was exactly where she told me it would be - no problems at all.
The hotel is clean and cozy, very quiet and at a moderate price.
A little complicated to get to in public transportation, though.

absolute catastrophe

We had booked the hotel for our fitters. It's an absolute catastrophe. One star is definitely too many. Mold, dirt, broken beds, smell. When our fitters complained, we were moved to the second hotel, Tophotels. This was also dirty, had broken slatted frames and the heating didn't turn off and it was far too warm. An absolute disgrace.

Slighty quirky

This is a beautiful looking building in a central location of the town. Our room was a funny shape, but the beds were very comfortable and the staff very friendly. The buffet breakfast was very good value. I would like mugs rather than cups.

In a quiet neighborhood.

We arrived in Cologne late in the afternoon to visit the Cathedral and reserved our rooms on the road using our smartphone. The hotel was located in what was probably at one time a small village but is now a part of greater Cologne. The neighborhood appears to be working class and diverse but not unsafe in the least. The hot breakfast was delicious. Although dated the rooms were clean and comfortable. They also have a very funky old vending machine that has snacks and drinks including bottle beer at 1 euro 50. Street parking was readily available.

Good choice

The beds were incredibly comfortable and the buffet breakfast for only 5 euros was amazing! The staff is really nice. I would definitely recommend for a short stay. We stayed here to visit the Cologne carnival so we had to take the train for about 20 minutes to the centre of the city. This is fine, but the hotel is about 2 km away from the train station. There is a bus every 30 minutes or you can walk, just this may not be convenient for all. The hotel is nice and quiet - just the walls are pretty thin.
