Its a hostel

Not very cheap nor calm, but with very clean and good bathrooms, and with big rooms (not thaaat clean, but good) the beds were also big.
Its close to the center but not in a very quiet neigborhood. No lift!
To sum up, a good hostel if you are young and you dont mind to stay in a hostel.

For 1 night ok

You knew what was coming. Many small repairs would be necessary. The EZ was clean. The bathroom was much too small for rooms 7 and 8. Since breakfast is not offered, it would be desirable if the room had an electric kettle and coffee. The mattress was good. The house is noisy. For 1 night it was ok

Definitely give a bad name to the Turks who come to Europe to work

Run by friendly Turkish people who don't speak English, but their policies definitely give a bad name to the Turkish and surrounding street and neighborhood who all try and come here to open up businesses.
Koelner Pension has no interest in keeping the customer happy or trying to accommodate their needs or compromise. My opinion is that they is always “right” and the customer is always “wrong” and the cancellation policy of two days prior is so that they can keep the customer’s money, regardless of how positive or negative their stay was, since it does not matter to the business. I checked in and had a reservation for 4 nights, and was going to be leaving early and wanted to check out 1-2 days early, aware of the policy. They did not allow me to, even though I would be staying there for the first two days.
I need the absolute bare essentials, so the place itself was fine but forget about trying to sleep. It was noisy outside at all hours of the night, the walls are thin and the floors are old wood so you can hear people running up and down the stairwell past your room all the time. I would not recommend Koelner Pension.

What you'd expect from a hostel

We booked here as is was cheap and seemed a good location for the Christmas markets. It was an ideal location (10 min walk from station and 10-15mins to the Dom) and as we literally slept and showered here the lodgings didn't bother us.
Bedding seemed to be clean, though the rooms could have done with a dust and vacuum. Shared bathroom was basic but quite clean. Meant to be a non-smoking building but there was a very strong smell of smoke in the air. Friendly and helpful check in.
Expect hostel standards and you won't be disappointed

Very very basic

Spend there one night during a business trip because the entire city was completely booked. It was sort of clean and very basic. I was helped very friendly at the reception. No wifi signal on the higher floors.
