Pleasant and convenient place to stay
This is not a 5 star hotel as one usually pictures it. It is, however, a very reasonably priced, extremely clean and super comfortable hotel to stay when in Cologne. It was easily accessible to the underground. The bed was so comfortable! The staff were both pleasant and helpful. The decor is a kitchy kind of fun. There are plenty of restaurants, etc within walking distance. We would stay here again.

Complaint about staying at Aunt ALMA – Cologne
Immediately after check-in, the rooms were found to be in a very poor and unsanitary condition. Within 15 minutes we decided to leave the hotel again, because a stay was unacceptable for us. The following serious defects have been identified by us:
• Mold present in the rooms
• Very dirty stains in the carpet
• Loosening and damaged wallpaper on the walls
• Bugs in the bathroom
These problems were not limited to one room, but were visible throughout the hotel. A room change was therefore not a solution.
We reported this immediately to the reception. The staff member behind the desk acknowledged that the rooms were not in order and confirmed to us in writing that the full amount would be refunded. It indicated that the refund would be made through Booking.com, as cancellation through Booking.com was no longer possible due to the expiry of the cancellation period.
To our surprise, we were later told by the hotel that they only wanted to refund 10% of the total amount. We have not agreed to this proposal, as it is disproportionate to the services offered (or rather: non-offered) and contradicts the written commitment previously made.

Great idea, disappointing execution
The marketing promises significantly more than what is delivered. The deluxe room was clean, but cool, interchangeable, and hardly thematically designed. Honestly, I wonder how the standard rooms look if this is supposed to be the deluxe category.

Negative experience
I entered the room and it was still to be redone, soiled with the remains of the previous guest. At the reception, after a quick apology as if it were the most normal thing in the world, they gave me another room. Overall poorly cleaned, there was hair or hair in the bathroom and on a pillow. The toilet paper was practically out of water and there were no bars of soap on the sink. Noises were heard at night. The service is absolutely not adequate for the price paid: for 140 euros per night I expect something better!

Charming hotel, unfortunately no response to emails
In September we were guests at Aunt Alma's Lasthaus in Cologne. First of all, I would like to mention that the staff was extremely friendly and endeavourful, and we found the hotel very charming.
When we arrived, there was still a reasonable temperature in our room. Unfortunately, this had changed a lot in the evening hours, it was unbearably warm in the room and the air conditioning did not remedy what we reported at the reception. When we got back to the hotel room in the late evening, the temperature hadn't changed, it was just a window tilted, which was no use. So we spent a very loud and until about 3 o'clock at night unbearably warm night in the room. Sleep was hard to think of, as if we wanted to reach and maintain half tolerable temperatures, we had to fully open the windows in bedrooms/bathrooms. With the location towards the main road, this led to enormous noise pollution that left us unable to sleep.
The next morning we asked for a fan, which we also got handed out immediately (the reception could have come up with the idea the night before) and reported the situation again to the reception. The nice gentleman apologized that he had not received a technician. On his own he unfortunately did not think to give us another room or a fan. ln the second night the same game, both windows open and fan on. Again, sleeping was unthinkable before the early morning.
In addition, the rooms were cozy and the bathroom very nice, really clean it was unfortunately only superficial.

- Many places have not seen a dust cloth for some time (I'm glad
that I'm not allergic.
- Some areas were poorly cleaned or not cleaned at all.
Everything together meant that we did not really feel comfortable during our stay and anything but recovered arrived back home. Even the nice gesture from the gentleman at the reception, to give us a small glass of eggnog jam as an excuse (well, we gave it away as we don't like eggnog) could not mitigate this.
I find it really sad that the hotel still hasn't responded to our email after a week.
