Unique experience

Excellent vintage hotel in a unique location on the Eifelsteig. Very hospitable hostess, well-kept rooms, excellent cuisine, cozy bar and very extensive breakfast buffet.
It is a classic family hotel in authentic German hunting style. Despite a lack of staff, they manage to keep the standard high. Highly recommended!

In the countyside

Quietly situated in the countryside about ten miles from Trier, this hotel is a rather old fashioned German Gasthof, worn, but clean. The beds were a bit hard and the heating was shut off during the night, so the room and bathroom were rather cold in the morning (we stayed here in the beginning of April). Breakfast was good. Good parking space. Nice staff.

In one family for hundreds of years!

My partner and I (and my dog) hiked out towards Kordel from our home in Trier and after about a 20km hike we stumbled upon this castle ruin (Burg Ramstein) and decided to take a closer look. What we found was the ruin and a hotel/restaurant all owned by a single family since 1780! They had the family tree displayed and it is now the great great granddaughter (now over 70 years old and her children who run the hotel. They welcomed us to stay, and fed us a nice dinner (I recommend the fries and chicken wings) and local beer, and then we went to the room. Very old charming hotel, nice breakfast included in the price, dogs welcome. There is another hotel on the property owned by some new owners, and I got the feeling that they are taking business from this sweet old classic place. Make sure you go to the Burg Ramstein Hotel!

A very good old fashioned German Hotel and well worth a visit

We enjoyed four nights in this 'Alte Deutsch' Hotel, where we received the most friendly service and were very well looked after. The Hotel has been in the same family for hundreds of years and is stepped in History. It is attached to the ruin of the Burg with commanding views.
Great location for walking and bike riding and in a tranquil setting surrounded by woods and countryside with Celtic and Roman history all around you. Close enough though to Trier, Mosel and Luxemburg. The small nearby town of Kordel has a bar restaurant at the station and Pizzeria in the centre. You can walk about 3km to the station and catch a train into Trier.
We were lucky to find the Hotel Burg Ramstein and enjoyed the experience of staying there as a base and all the Hotel staff helped get the best out of the local area with their advice and directions. Value for money with great food .... very large portions of good German / European cooking. First class service (they all speak a degree of good English and my poor German helped!) The room was comfortable and clean, but you wont get Egyptian cotton! It matched the Alte Deutsch' theme of the Hotel and offered great views and in the evening other than the odd bird or wild animal calling in the surrounding forest sat on the balcony, you could hear a pin drop!

Beautiful view

We stayed one night here. The room was clean and fairly comfortable, but the view was amazing! We could see the burg from our balcony, which was a really cool experience. The staff was not overly friendly, but I have no real complaints. The breakfast was nice and dinner at the restaurant was nice as well. The location can't be beat, with the hills surrounding and tons of nature trails.
