Great spacious and classic European hotel.

We took a trip to Germany and Austria and stayed in Wilderman Hotel. This was one of the nicest hotels on our journey. I loved the extra large rooms, the enclosed balcony, the large bathroom, the king size bed. It was very clean and they had a nice breakfast. The hotel was right by the Danube river also. Great hotel.

Disappointed after stay in Wildermann Passau

The location of Hotel Wilder Mann in Passau is excellent and very convenient for a short stay. Parking is about 800 meters. The rooms are quite old-fashioned and could certainly benefit from modernization, but for a one-night stay this would have been acceptable.
One significant disadvantage, especially during the high summer temperatures, is the lack of air conditioning. Nowadays, I consider proper climate control an important part of guest comfort, and unfortunately the room became quite uncomfortable because of the heat.
Unfortunately, my experience after the stay was very disappointing. After returning home, I unexpectedly received an invoice for more than €250 for several items that the hotel claims were damaged during my stay.
As a travel professional who has worked in the hospitality industry for many years, I take great care when staying in hotels and have the utmost respect for other people's property. I therefore strongly dispute that I caused the reported damage.
I immediately contacted the hotel in writing and provided an official statement explaining that I believed there must have been a mistake or misunderstanding. What disappointed me most was the way the situation was handled afterwards. Instead of contacting me to discuss my statement or clarify what had happened, I simply received a payment reminder.
Mistakes and misunderstandings can happen, and I would have been more than willing to discuss the matter constructively with the hotel. However, I would expect a professional hotel to investigate a disputed damage claim and communicate with the guest before continuing with payment reminders.
The location is excellent and the hotel may be perfectly adequate for a short stay, but unfortunately the way this situation was handled has left me with a very negative impression.
I’d recommend this version for Google or Booking because it clearly disputes the charge without making accusations you can’t independently prove.

Who needs the big corporate hotels

Fantastic hotel, great breakfast and warm.
We've visited over 200 hotels all over the world and we always choose the smaller boutique properties. We appreciate the friendships we experienced similar to Sandra.

The location on Rathausplatz is very good. We had a quiet room. The price was acceptable at 125€/F for a rather small double room. Breakfast simple (there were real scrambled eggs, but only coffee from the pot), but you had a nice view over the rooftops of Passau from the breakfast room. Reception 24/7. Public transport in the old town is a joke: the city bus does not run at all on weekends.
Recommendation: with the ÖBB leisure ticket a day tour to Linz!

Old established hotel right on the Danube

The Wild Man is an old house. Our room was clean, spacious and Bavarian-rural. The bikes could not be locked away at night, but were parked within sight of the reception. The breakfast buffet was rich, the view over Passau and the Danube from the breakfast room on the top floor was worth seeing.
