Very good.
The restaurant is perfectly located on the way to the rock stage and is well attended, so it is recommended to reserve. The service is friendly and the food very rich and good. The nuggets are homemade and taste si too. We recommend the Szeged goulash with homemade napkin dumplings, delicious. Prices are a little upscale but worth the money.

Disappointment
Unfortunately, our experience during today's visit to the restaurant was very negative. We had the salmon fillet with green asparagus and grilled potatoes and the schnitzel with fried potatoes. The salmon was dry, the grilled potatoes inedible because they were completely mushy, and the asparagus was also completely overcooked. The fried potatoes with the schnitzel were similar to the grilled potatoes. Too bad, we have eaten better here before. Unfortunately, there was no reaction from the kitchen after our complaint.

Nice rooms, good location
We spent one night in this hotel as a couple.
Pros:
Ideal starting point for hikes to Bastei
Quiet location – we could sleep with the window tilted and heard almost nothing at night
Modern, clean rooms
Friendly staff and friendly staff
Very good breakfast
Neutral / Negative:
Upon check-in we had to wait about 10 minutes as the reception was not occupied. A bell or a clue would have been helpful here.
The steam sauna does not work optimally: The warm air collects only at the top, while it remains quite cool when sitting down. You have to stand to feel the full effect.
The glass door in the sauna area is difficult to see in dim light. I myself ran against it, and other guests had the same problem that day. One woman sitting at the next table at dinner even reported that she had to seek medical attention because of this.
Dinner at the restaurant was fine and very rich. Personally, I would have preferred something less, but with more attention to detail. That the cyclist was poured the wrong way around (with the lemonade downstairs) shouldn't really happen in a restaurant.
Conclusion:
Overall a nice hotel with good breakfast, quiet location and friendly staff. What I remembered negatively, however, is the insufficiently secured glass door in the sauna area. Especially since the problem has been known for some time, according to one employee, urgent improvements should be made here.

Perfect location for enjoying the Saxon Switzerland Bastei
Visitors to the Bastei bridge have options to approach by walking. The Amselgrundschloesschen is located at the bottom of the stairway up to the viewpoint. But it is also the starting point for a number of other Great Walks within the western part of the Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz (Saxon Switzerland National Park). The Bastei Hotel is at the top of the bridge, and may be a better option for people who want to see the overlook, but would not be able to handle all the stair climbing. The Amselgrundschloesschen breakfast buffet was exceptional, and one of the nicer ones on the trip. I have come to expect fresh bread, meats, cheeses, fruits, and cereals on my trips in continental Europe. This one did not disappoint. It is a good way to fortify before handling the uphill climbs from the valley.
Getting to the Niederrathen from west side of the Elbe is made easy by the ferry from Oberrathen. If you want to park a car at the hotel, then you must use the street that turns off the road between Rathmannsdorf and Hohnstein. The other roads shown on maps are only walking trails. Google and Apple maps do not do a good job of deciding on a driving trail, they will only show you must walk a certain number of kilometers after other driving points. If you are approaching from the West (Dresden) the crossings of the Elbe are at Pirna and Bad Schandau, making the drive into Niederrathen about 40 minutes longer than coming from Oberrathen. The hotel parking is actually the closest in parking in Niederrathen. Other parking is further outside the town for visitors bringing bikes or walking in on the Niederrathen side. You will get a separate entry ticket / parking pass to display in your car window while visiting. We had a nice outside deck on our room. The town becomes very quiet at night. I would gladly stay here again!

Great quality, and all very friendly
A family-run hotel where it seems to be true. Very friendly staff. The price level is quite decent, but the hotel is also right on the Bastei ascent, wonderfully quiet, you have a bit of mountain feeling, and that again right on the Elbe. We were also here for dinner, which was also great.
