The Germany I was looking for

I booked three rooms here in December for my family. I was looking for a simple Gasthaus experience with good food and access to walking trails. We hit the jackpot. The owner, Bruno, staff and family at the Barbarossa were delightful in every respect. They were kind and helpful. 100 meters just down the street we discovered what seemed like unlimited walking trails through the mature forest... we walked many hours (this would also be a great location for runners). I recommend a walk to the Buchberg where you will find an old monument and restaurant with in/outside seating. We ate at the Barbarossa multiple times. The food and service was consistently excellent. The rooms are simple and clean - a value for the price. Being just outside of Frankfurt, the town has a peaceful and rural quality which is a nice break from the busy metropolis. There is a small town grocery store and bakery just down the street and there are many restaurants within a short drive. Parking is very tight just in front of the Barbarossa; however, there is plenty of space to park on residential streets just around the corner. This is a great value in a convenient location. We plan to make the Barbarossa our first stop whenever we arrive in Frankfurt.

Little bed and breakfast, suitable if you search for something cheaper than in Frankfurt. Spartan rooms, a bit old but clean. Essential breakfast buffet. The owners speak just a little English, kind people

Place need to be renovated

Positives first: there are very nice people running this hotel. A bottle of water and bowl of fruits included.
But the hotel is old and torn, needs some renovations. However for the price you pay it is obvious one should nod expect miracles. I could not comnect to local Wi-Fi, for some unidentified technical reasons there.

excellent service, good food, good rooms

On entry we were welcomed by two lovely ladies who went to some trouble finding a room for us as a wedding party had just checked in and the rooms available on the net were quickly reduced.
The idea of a wedding party in the hotel didn't seem like a good idea and we would have left but the ladies assured us it wouldn't go on late and they had a lovely room for us. The ambiance of the place appealed to us so against better judgment we stayed. As for the wedding party, they stayed too and well into the night of course but to be honest, even though the walls were thin, it didn't bother us too much and the room, the beds, the restaurant food and the breakfast all made up for the poor nightrest.
Dinner at their restaurant was very good, we very much enjoyed our massive Kalfschnitzels which were done to perfection, and the sides of fried potatoes as well as grilled vegetables and a salad for very reasonable prices! The morning's breakfast which was included in the very good price for the room, was large and varied as well, including good cappucino, scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh bread, serials, fruit, jams, yoghurts, you name it.. Excellent stuff!
Besides that, free parking was included as was wifi internet with a good strong signal.The only real downside were the german cushions which are just a bag of feathers and not good for necksupport at all. But I suppose it's just what you're accustomed to and we came across them in most German hotels.
To sum it up, we could hardly have asked for more and but for the wedding party, this was pretty close to being the best stay of our trip!

Bad Experience in Germany

recently we booked via booking.com this hotel as a stop over for the night in Germany.... We should have been warned when we recieved booking confirmation....we booked 2 rooms for 4 persons each and got confirmation for 2 rooms and 3 persons each. After telephoen call this was solved.... As we arrived, it was a bit further form Highway as we expected, we found on window a note that bar & restaurant was closed as onwer (who is apperently also the cook) is on vacation.. This is not was we had booked, also were we not informed with booking confirmation that this would be case. Wifi was not working and absolute insufficient parking space. Once we had seen the rooms it seemed overpriced compared to other hotels in this aera. After we asked for a rebate and the offered rebate was insufficient to our opinion (10 Euro) we left.....
