Fantastic weekend at Hotel Ullensvang
We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Ullensvang from Friday to Sunday in connection with a wedding, and the hotel really exceeded our expectations!
The location is quite spectacular, with a view of the Hardangerfjord that feels almost unreal. The entire hotel has a quiet and exclusive atmosphere, while feeling warm and welcoming.
The room was elegant and comfortable, the food kept high quality, and the service was pleasant throughout the stay. As a perfect end to the weekend, we used the spa area last day, making the experience extra relaxing and luxurious.
This is really a place you want to come back to! A perfect combination of nature, quality and relaxation :)

Beautiful scenery & an elaborate but aging hotel with ?mould in the showers
There is no doubting that the scenery is spectacular. We quite enjoyed the fjordbaths & the included breakfast buffet was lovely. Our room was very spacious and had a lovely balcony, but unfortunately there was a significant amount of black growth in the shower & bathroom area in our room that was troubling and made it not feel very clean. As well, the dinner buffet (no a-la carte options) in the evening at it is over 700kr per person, so we ended up going elsewhere (to a lovely pizza place just down the road). The beds were very soft and comfortable!

Terrible room in disrepair. Shower soap dispenser fallen on the floor. Shower mixer fallen on the floor. Despite of 4 complaints to reception. Not fixed and refused to change our room. Dinner buffet, my advise stay away and save money. Ridiculously expensive and there is hardly any edible food. Go to the nearby pizza shop that was flooded by the hotel guests who did their research.

We could not have selected a better home base for our fjord adventures. Highly recommend this property.

Don’t believe the pictures. 2-3 star hotel hyped up as 4 stars.
We have traveled all over Asia, North America and Europe, and this was by far one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we have had.
We booked a family room with four beds, but it was extremely cramped and uncomfortable for a family. The bathroom was even smaller than one you would find on a cruise ship. Our room also had what was described as a balcony, but it was more like a small enclosed space filled with trash, which was an awful first impression. Additionally, the phone in our room didn’t work and they made one attempt to fix it and gave up.
We were especially frustrated because the hotel advertises activities like bowling and foosball, and we had hoped to use them to celebrate our child’s birthday. Despite asking to use the bowling alley ahead of time, they told us on arrival that they’re not able to offer it to due to staffing shortages. The very next day, someone else was bowling and when we confronted them, they just said they had staff today. Probably had nothing to do with us being tourists (the folks playing were likely locals). The foosball and table-tennis equipment that was available had damaged or missing balls.
The restaurant service was abysmal. We had to call waiters over several times just to get water, and the buffet was bland, repetitive, and disappointing. Breakfast was also underwhelming, with no live omelet station.
It was frustrating to learn that pool access costs extra, while the outdoor hot tub is adults-only. Overall, the hospitality was nonexistent. No one seemed to care whether we were enjoying our stay or whether the advertised amenities were actually available.
The views are incredible but that’s a function of Mother Nature. It would look just as beautiful if we were camping in a tent.
We will not be returning and would not recommend Hotel Ullensvang.
