Central hotel with potential – but also some challenges

We visited Henriks Hotell in Skien in July 2025, five people distributed in two rooms. The rooms were generally acceptable, but there was room for improvements. In one room there was a sliding door to the bathroom, which unfortunately did not close properly, as it was mounted incorrectly and did not close tight.
During our stay there were unusually high temperatures (about 30 degrees), which made it difficult to withstand being in the room – especially at night. A fan could have made a big difference and would be a good service in the summer months. In addition, there was a lot of noise from the street, especially from motorcycles, which ran all night. We would therefore recommend earplugs to make it easier to sleep.
The stay was booked through Risskov Bilferie and should include a "light dinner", such as a sandwich. However, the hotel stated that they had not received sufficient information about this from Risskov, and we ended up getting French bread served from the breakfast buffet with some cheese and hamburgerry. The staff did their best under the circumstances and was very welcoming – but it is important that the communication between the hotel and the tour operator works so that the guests do not get in an unfortunate situation. We were not the only guests who experienced this.
The breakfast buffet, on the other hand, was really good and fully lived up to expectations – a clear highlight of the stay.

Simple and okay

The reservation went quickly and smoothly. Check-in with the mobile app, which worked fine.
I thought that twin room with bath also had a TV, but it wasn't in the room we got. A little disappointing.
The room was clean and fine. Breakfast is simple but totally ok

Strict perfume smell.

Oioi....here it wasn't good. As soon as we opened the door, a terrible perfume smell struck us. It was aired loudly without much help. Not seemed TV and wifi and window towards Skiens most busy road is not recommended. A lot of traffic and very listening. Totally ok plain breakfast. Nice staff despite the lack of response to inquiries after the reception was closed (by SMS and mail).

Start with the positive first: Cheap, central location and good breakfast. Now for the rest: It helps little with a paint strip on the walls, when the wall-to-wall blankets are from the 80s. The room was furnished with a chair, a bed a TV and a sink. The chair, which was also from several decades back, had a big spot. Covered it with one towel to take the chance of sitting in it. Lakenet was clean, but smelled hospital. Maybe they use the same cleaner? On the mattress and the top mattress I found hair. And big, nasty brown spots. The reception did not understand the problem. The lake was clean. After a long discussion, they agreed to change the mattresses. They could not cancel the order or upgrade.
Despite the clean bed, there was little sleep. There was incredible listening between the rooms. I got with me the whole conversation and the activities in the neighborhood room.

Clean, easy, affordable!

Clean, easy and affordable!
I needed a good bed, a shower and rest. And that's exactly what I got! Had earrings so I wasn't disturbed by traffic. The hotel is centrally located, so traffic noise must be calculated.
The room was clean, staff friendly. Breakfast was easy, but I missed nothing.
Bad with parking, but I found parking in the immediate vicinity for 100kr per day. So it's absolutely inside Thank you for me ⚡
